Guardians campaign didn’t review well so they scrapped it.

I actually went through the Halo 4 cinematics recently (was super bored) and man the fuckery they added to the narrative was absolute bobbins.

Just awful

It doesn't help things that the Guardians are bloody terrible enemies and just make me wish the humans would just fight the Covenant again.
Just have Cortana teleport them all into a black hole or something.

The last time we really spoke about Halo Infinite was when we debuted the Discover Hope trailer at E3 earlier this year. We know that's a long time to go without saying much about a Halo game, but please trust me when I say that the Halo hype train that kicked off two weeks ago with Halo: Reach will not be slowing down at all in 2020.

While I don't have any new Halo Infinite details for you in this Community Update, I did want to give you a refresher about what's been confirmed so far.

General Details

Release date: Holiday 2020
Platforms: Xbox Series X (formerly known as Project Scarlett), the entire Xbox One family of devices, and Windows PCs
In Universe Timing: It follows the Master Chief's story some time after Halo 5: Guardians' conclusion
Flighting Programs: These opt-in flights will start small and slowly expand out until release, so sign up for the Halo Insider program!
Pro Team: We've assembled an internal Pro Team for Halo Infinite

Game Features

Splitscreen: Splitscreen is up and running internally
LAN: Halo Infinite will support LAN
Back in Black: Black Undersuits will be in the game
Player Customization: If you liked the level of armor customization options in Halo: Reach, you will be pleased
SR 152: Players who hit SR 152 in Halo 5: Guardians will receive a token of appreciation in Halo Infinite
Forge: Our famous editing tool will be in Halo Infinite and will have Undo & Redo buttons, which is a first for Forge.

And since one piece of Halo Infinite concept art just didn't feel like enough, here's another!

I wonder if the changes to the game between this gen and the next gen version will be purely cosmetic as that would be rather disappointing.

Rumours about campaign are interesting:

Chief saves Cortana from rampancy but she's already f**ked up most of the universe. They use Halo Zeta (the one from both teaser trailers) to fire the halo rings thus killing all sentient life (including Chief) but at same time sending Cortana's AI back to the first cortana (on Reach) and merging/downloading info to her. She knows about the Reach attack so they can prepare, noble 6 return and Chief fights on Reach also. There's lots more but if true it'll mean we'll be back to fighting covenant and it will be a reboot of sorts. Kinda makes the infinite subtitle make more sense also.

Halo:Endgame

That sounds alright the Halo lore has been garbage since 2 so I'm not that worried about it throwing everything away. I always felt like 343 got the combat just about right but the level design is the area that needs massive improvement, hopefully moving to more big open areas.

The multiplayer is the thing that interests me most, I know there a bit late to the party but the weapon balancing in Halo would make a battle royale very interesting.

Getting slightly sick of these Mortal Kombat 9-rip-off non-reboots. Commit to a storyline please.

That sounds infinitely better than the dog shite that was 4 and 5.

After Infinite I really hope we get a next gen only Halo Wars 3.
It would be nice to see what a console rts can do without the limitations of current hardware. Hopefully, they can allow M+K support as well as it would be nice to be able to use as a benchmark between the console version and the PC version.

Photek wrote:I don't know why they made that particular trailer, especially after last years teaser which was great.

They just needed the same music from Halo 3's reveal and show Chief walking along on the Ring....the crescendo in the music would do the rest.

Definitely something along those lines or at least follow the structure. Covenant giving a speech about humans being destroyed, zoom back with the music and bring the chief into frame, everyone gets excited.

Obviously the best ending is where Master Cheif wakes up and he's actually Mario having a dream and Infinite is the long awaited reveal that Microsoft have bought Nintendo.

This is the way the world ends!!!!!!!!!!! It's me, Mario!!!!!!!!!!!!

From a Snowrunner dev -

So I just saw some Halo Infinite. I'm not the fan of the game but it was interesting seeing a nextgen game with my own eyes.
What I'm trying to say is... holy strawberry floating gooseberry fool we're gonna have fun tomorrow because that game looks beautiful and I can't wait to see Sony's first party games.

Fun Tomorrow as in Today? It'd be a shitty awesome thing to show a new trailer just before or after the Sony event.

or he's just talking graphical upgrades in general.

So Halo Infinite's campaign won't have 'levels' as such, it will be one continuous game, like Half-Life 2/God of War with cut scenes moving camera outside of masterchief and going back in after.

Can we make a rule that you're not allowed to post in here until there is gameplay :x

I'm still hoping it will be some sort of open world with linear parts mixed in. Something like God of War or Gears 5.

Gameplay won't be till July but it will have open world bits like you suggest.
