Cortana is fine if you are playing on Normal difficulty, it's still the worst of the levels but it shouldn't cause too many problems. It becomes a right pain when you go through it in Heroic and or Legendary ( :dread: ) though

Oh no I'm like two levels away from it on Heroic at the moment :dread:

I’m OK with this news. Partly because I’m not the biggest Halo fan - I do like it a lot, but it’s not the main draw for me. Because I’ve skipped the 1X, the Series X is going to enable all the enhancements I’ve been missing out on, so I’d be keen for the Series X even if it launched with NO games. Legion and Valhalla will keep me busy enough, with Halo to look forward to.

PS5 and Series X north of €600? :dread:

Interview with Phil about Infinite's Delay:

When asked about the launch strategy and if it changes due to Halo Infinite being there on day one, Spencer said “It doesn’t. I’d say the positive for us both through the May showcase and the July showcase has been the rise of importance in Game Pass. As we go out and talk to our customers, it’s becoming a real decision maker for those both on our platform and people that are evaluating the Xbox Series X as a console for them. Our investment in the portfolio is strong and we’ve got some more announcements to come about things that are coming to Game Pass.”

Speaking specifically about Halo Infinite, Spencer said that the decision to delay the game came about 24 hours before the decision was made public. He said that internally, Bonnie Ross (Head of 343) and Matt Booty (Head of Xbox Game Studios) discussed splitting the game up to release certain portions on day one, but ultimately he felt that this was a bad idea.

Is that discussed in the DF video? I know everyone is saying that both companies are holding off so they can potentially undercut the others, but part of me is wondering if they are holding back on releasing the price until they knew the full effects of COVID and the corresponding recession. Then they will act accordingly. Even though companies aim for a November launch to take advantage of holiday purchases, a £600 console will be too much for all but those unaffected by COVID to consider at the minute.

A small part of me is still expecting both consoles to be delayed, with stock fulfilment issues in the light of COVID being used to save face.

I can't speak to PS5 but no chance Series X will be delayed. Phil just got his retail Series X at home recently and doubled down on the release going ahead yesterday.

The €600-€700 price point is discussed in DF vid.

Can't see it being 600. I'm prepared to be wrong but I still have a suspicion that if anything Series X is going to come in cheaper than people expect

Stumbled upon my very first impressions of Halo from back in 2002 on an old forum that is somehow still online, I don't even remember posting this
I managed to get my hands on an XBox yesterday at my local computer games shop. When I say I got my hands on one, I didn't buy one. I just had a go on the one set up in the shop. :P

But anyway, the game being played was Halo. I'd heard a lot about and I must say it certainly lives up to the hype! :)

I played it for roughly 30 minutes, and in that time I totally forgot all about Microsoft and their money-grabbing-worldwide-market-control tactics and was immersed in a great game. The only problem is that now that I've played it, I want to play it some more and there is no way I'll be able to afford one when it sells at £300 with games costing £45!!!! :o

If the rest of the games on the XBox are as good as the magnificent Halo and they advertise these games well (sniff, poor SEGA), then Microsoft should certainly do very well in the console wars.

Anyways, I'm still planning on getting that PS2...

I never did buy an Xbox and I didn't play Halo again until I got an Xbox 360, but it's become one of my favourite game series now

I think we'd all take the new systems costing £300 and games at £45 now!

Have there been any/many programming car-crashes from the closest of Microsoft's first party studios? People talk about them being "M$" roflcopter but they seem to have excellent quality control, programming-wise, from what I remember.

Opinions expressed in this post are those of RJ Badman and do not reflect the views of Bovril Fluid Beef Ltd.

Excellent piece debunking pretty much all the ‘rumours’ about Halo Infinite’s ‘troubled’ development. (Spoiler Alert, all the rumours are bollocks).

Rumour from Sponger at Era who is "definitely in a position to possibly know such things" -

I was considering a lot to post it or not, but after few consultations with few different sources I'll put it;

Microsoft/343i is currently very busy with idea of dropping Xbox One support for Halo Infinite.

Even idea to postpone it to early 2022 is on the table. It's pretty messy up there with decisions but they are convinced that they need to make best Halo game ever.

Current version of Halo Infinite on Xbox One S is nowhere near 1080p (even lower than 900p) and is having serious asset loading issues (much worse that you have seen on PC demo).

Idea is to change at the engine level how assets load, make RT as default (improve/"unlock" some assets), improve geometry, post-processing and add more CPU bound interactivity.

All of this has kinda been debunked too as much as I'd like X1 to be dropped...

Agreed, it's the obvious move but they've already been trying to build up the idea of continued support for the "Xbox family" so it would be a big come down for them

Well, not really, I mean, The next Forza, State of Decay 3, Avowed and Fable are not coming to X1 so i've no idea why Halo has to. ESPECIALLY one that is to be Halo's new base for the next 10 years. They were always gonna drop X1 support after launch anyway so best just do it now.

Because none of those games are Halo.
