My Heroic run though is at 40hrs. Thats getting all the outposts etc. and exploring around.
Ive just finished my Legendary at 15hrs with the bandana skull on, only concentrating on spartan cores to raise the equipment levels and a few of the
high targets to get some of the fancy weapons. There is the
yellow sniper on one of the mountains in the anti aircraft area which i found useful. Legendary is a big BS step from heroic - the
red huntersare particularly nasty even with infinite grenades, and even having infinite ammo some of the bosses were still BS, i guess without the bandana skull its a case of grappling to cover and circling around to get more ammo. Halo 1-3 always seems "fair" on legendary (maybe not some sections of Halo2) but here the BS is piled on.

I've just completed the spire and then 3 anti aircraft guns for pelican dowm.. How much more is there? I'd assumed you'd have more world open up but it sounds like that might not be the case.
I'm looking around for secrets a lot too.
Without spoiling too much, your probably about 50% through the story, and about 60% though the "area"

In the open world, you will come across "spartan cores", these will upgrade your "equipment". This is the rpg element of the game - and upgrading and using the equipment is really useful.
