Heard rumours of a playlist update - hopefully to take Slayer away from the objective game modes.

Tried Battlefield 2042 again, I just noped out of it, there is WAY too much going on in the battles at the moment, feels like you have no impact on anything. I'll try again in a few weeks but for now this is eons better.

No idea how they launched the mp for this and it just works out the gate, massive numbers from day one and it's not skipped a beat.

I've had a few issues where it's failed to enter a game properly - just seemed to hang on the lobby, but otherwise yeah it's been impressively smooth!

Not played a huge number of matches yet but it's a lot of fun to just dip into and everything just feels great to play.

Only real negative I think is that the standard controller is clearly no longer fit for purpose - some serious hand gymnastics needed to hit the d-pad for stuff without breaking movement

Tempted to pick one up for cheap to play the multiplayer so long as it doesn't run like poop.

That was hyperbole of course but things like mark and grenade switch on the d-pad makes it very difficult to do them dynamically whilst moving

The first free event for Halo Infinite, Fracture: Tenrai, begins today!

Featuring the samurai-inspired Yoroi armor core and other themed rewards, the free 30-tier Event Pass is available now alongside a limited time playlist and event-specific challenges. This is the first of six total appearances Fracture: Tenrai will make over the course of Season 1, with its next appearance coming in January 2022.

The Fracture: Tenrai Event Pass is 100% free and offers players themed, limited time rewards for playing multiplayer matches and completing event challenges while the event is live. During event weeks it will appear in your season progress menu between the battle pass and challenges. The Fracture: Tenrai Event Pass will be available for one week from Tuesday, November 23 at 10am PT until Monday, November 30 at 10am PT. However, unlike other events, Fracture: Tenrai will appear a total of six times throughout the season, so you’ll have plenty of opportunities to complete all 30 reward tiers of the Event Pass.

EVENT PASS UNLOCKS
As mentioned, the Event Pass is entirely free and rewards player participation in Fracture: Tenrai over the course of multiple recurrences, meaning that your progress on this pass will carry over week-to-week.

On top of the Legendary Yoroi Armor core, players can expect to unlock the following as part of the Event Pass:

Torii Reflection – Epic Backdrop
Gatekeeper – Legendary Shoulder Pads
Rare Samurai Nameplate & Emblems
Sol Devil – Legendary Weapon Coating (MA40 AR)
Whispered Sky – Epic Weapon Coating (Sidekick and BR75 Battle Rifle)
Spring Blossom Filter – Legendary Helmet Attachment
Swordsman’s Belt – Legendary Utility for Yoroi Armor Core

A GIFT FOR A WARRIOR

To celebrate the start of this event we are also going to be gifting all players who login the legendary Fracture backdrop which players can equip as part of their Spartan ID. Jump in anytime during this first week of Fracture: Tenrai to receive it.

In addition to the Free Event pass, players can earn additional Samurai-themed items by completing this week's Ultimate Challenge.

The Halo Infinite shop will also feature limited time, premium Samurai-themed cosmetics.

Trying to get up to speed before the single player of this releases. Working my way through Halo 4 in the MCC. What a ridiculously good looking and well playing game it is.

I always forget how great the AI feels to play against in these games.

Chalky has been playing this with me and he has the base xbox.
It's fine as far as I know and Chalky hasn't complained.

Excellent interviews with Staten, seems to have had an interesting life. Although he doesn't talk much about it, his departure from Bungie ended on bad terms.

The IGN interview he's very up front on how he became creative lead. After the 'failed' demo he simply contacted Bonnie Ross (who he knew anyway because he was working for Xbox Publishing) if he could help in anyway, as in, just come in and talk to some people, nothing too much. Then he was on Vacation for 2 weeks and when he got back his email was full of, well, asking if he wanted to come on board fully.

In his first couple of weeks he played through the campaign a couple of times and he was happy that the core Halo experience was there but he boiled things down to 3 points he wanted to deal with.

1 - It needed more time, he pushed for the year delay.
2 - Identify what to focus on, and what to cut.
3 - Making sure they could finish the game in a way that could was good for the devs and didn't have crunch.

He wouldn't say if he's staying for a certain amount of time but he did say he was very happy, very energized (haven't felt this excited about working on games in a long while) and although he can't talk about any of it, he's very excited of what's coming next for the campaign down the line.

He says delaying co-op was hard but he only wanted to ship the game when it was ready, and commits to the co-op being as best as it can be.

The entire team is having a small break after the 'sprint' and will come back before launch to get into a 'healthy' rhythm as a dev team.

Anyone else seem to get stuck on "other players loading" for upwards of 10 minutes?

Getting matched to a game is very quick. Getting into that game seems to ake forever.

It's never been 10mins (usually about 1) but I do lament that this is on old Xbox Ones and runs off older hard drives on PC's because that's who we're waiting on to load each map :x

I have to say, I haven't been genuinely excited about a game for such a long time but I really REALLY am about this which is kind of great.
