I absolutely loved bouncing around the open areas in the earlier parts of the game, the traversal and discovery of things across the ring has been a joy. But at the same time I've really quite enjoyed the change to a more focussed string of missions that seems to have come along now, particularly as they all feel very Classic Halo™

That said, the story is still failing to get me too excited which is a shame. And it really feels like they were wanting the finger snapping "reveal" with Cortana and Weapon to be something of a Would You Kindly moment for this game, but it just falls very flat IMO.

After the credits roll you are back on the main map so you can go about collecting things... if you want.

As for the story.
I agree that it was flat but I don't think they seen it as a 'would you kindly' moment as revealing she is a copy is not a huge reveal considering she looks and sounds like Cortana. I did however, enjoy her acting, she plays 3 roles in the game and all are pretty good. Personally for me the arguing with Chief about her deletion and then the subsequent point were she relents and says 'its been an honour' actually made me well up.

The reason was the music of that piece is a mixture of old school and new and the piano change when Chief says "We do it together" was just perfect. I teared up at ending also...

That new 'outside area' has the classic Halo theme kick in and man, I felt like a total bad ass when it did, it's f**king incredible (to me only probably).

I think for me part of the problem is that it was both obvious that "Weapon = Cortana copy" but at the same time I never really bought that this is what Cortana was like "pre-Chief and with some other bits of her memory ripped out" - she's a bit too naïve, a bit too winey etc. But maybe that's just me!

Looking forward to how it wraps up - it's been begging for the main theme to add some gravitas to things!

They really need to hurry up with some content for the multiplayer.

Yep, their roadmap update is delayed by a week so it's either good news as in something big is planned or bad news that it's delayed.

It was so obvious that I didn't even pick up that was supposed to be a twist

Defeated Spartan Killer Elite and King Gorilla in a pair of fights that were easier than expected, but still enjoyable. Not a fan of the "contrived arena" setting for that level though, felt like they were short of content and just stitched some work in progress multiplayer levels together.

The Road was cool, especially when the theme kicked in :datass: just a shame that you can bypass most of the content by just driving past everyone though

Halo 2.

I enjoyed it, but the ending was a bit disappointing and I felt Halo 2 was more open space world's than the previous two. The cutscenes were incredible though.

Halo 3 next soon.

I might do, but I am having a little break from Halo.

I'm currently playing Death's Door to avoid burnout on Halo series.

Campaign finished!

A solid 8/10 game for me - some fantastic combat mechanics and a lovely open world to explore and show them off in, but a little shallow in terms of variety and the story, whilst better than I had feared, was still not exactly firing on all cylinders.

It's the most fun I've had with the franchise in over a decade though, and at times when it channelled the best aspects of the early games it was incredibly rewarding to play.

Final fight against The Harbinger wasn't too bad all in all, just a case of swat down the bothersome flies and then wait for the opening to blast her - rinse and repeat. I didn't massively enjoy the last level because it was just another Forerunner installation and we'd ran through what felt like about 4 of those in quite quick succession toward the end of the game. Could have done with something to spice that up a bit. Also I found myself stuck with some of the shittier weapons toward the end - the Sentinel beam can be great but it's not especially satisfying to use, same with the Heatwave which is just gooseberry fool.

Main problem with the Harbinger fight was that I kept glitching through the floor which was really bloody annoying. Felt like every time I grappled onto someone for a punch Chief would end up in the infinite void below the arena

Has there been any news on new maps, or when they new season will be starting? I found it started getting very samey a week or two after completing the battle pass - I haven't touched it in a good week or so. Hopefully a couple of new maps should inject a bit of something back into it.

Anyone else in a similar position, or are you still going?

I'm not playing it much cos I don't like playing online MP alone. That said, I'd like some new maps alright. May is Season 2 but I really think they should start adding stuff now. Numbers on Xbox are still relatively high apparently.

Can't see me bothering with the MP any more - I'm probably going to uninstall this now that I'm done with the campaign.

My couch multiplayer and co-op days are behind me (until the kids are bigger and I can get them to join in!) and playing MP with randoms just isn't very interesting to me sadly

Howdy all – it’s time for another update! This week we’re taking a closer look at some of the things landing in next week’s update, which is currently going through the certification process and is tracking towards a Thursday, February 24, release.

This isn’t a full list and you’ll be able to catch the full patch notes on the Halo Support site 1.8k, but a few we wanted to touch on this week are:

Networking

If you haven’t had a chance to read our Halo Infinite’s Online Experience 145 blog, I’d highly recommend giving it a look. In it our Lead Sandbox Engineer, Richard Watson, outlines what’s happening during online gameplay and shares how latency, “desync,” and other factors may affect your experience. We also outline our next steps, which include prioritizing better connections and fixing issues in the system itself.

To that point, next week’s update will add new telemetry that specifically focuses on gathering more data around instances of being shot around walls or corners. It will also have targeted improvements to reduce rubberbanding around vehicles and vehicle debris. This work will help us as we continue to improve the online experience, but it does not signify the end of the road.

Please know that progress is being made and we’ll continue to share updates around networking when we have them.

First-Person Animations

This update should address an issue that was preventing first-person animations from interpolating correctly. If you’ve ever spotted some framerate issues while clambering or reloading (or any other first- person action), you should see those run more smoothly next week.

Campaign Improvements

We’ll see multiple improvements in the Campaign experience. Whether it’s addressing issues with Achievements unlocking or returning to the game via Quick Resume, the team has been working on a handful of fixes for campaign since launch and there will be more on the way. Be sure to read the Patch Notes on the Halo Support site 1.8k next week for more details.

Stability & Performance

We’ve been keeping a close eye on reports around stability and performance on PC and console. This update will have a few improvements, but we’re continuing to address opportunities found internally and through tickets submitted via the Halo Support site 90.

If you’re experiencing consistent issues with performance or stability, please be sure to submit them on the Halo Support site. Each ticket provides us with new information and helps the team find additional opportunities for improvement.

BTB Motion Tracker

Next week, the range of the Motion Tracker in Big Team Battle will be increasing from 18m to 24m. This has been a consistent piece of community feedback in BTB, especially since the update earlier this month, and we’re happy to make it a reality with this update.

Anti-Cheat Improvements

We mentioned this earlier in the year, but we wanted to touch on it again – there will be multiple improvements to our anti-cheat systems in this update.

We’ll have even more to share about anti-cheat in the near future.

That’s a taste of the improvements landing next week with the update. Keep an eye out for the full patch notes on the Halo Support site at aka.ms/HaloInfiniteUpdate 785 to get all the details when it lands.

Hope you all have a great weekend, and we’ll see you next week!

After being completely absorbed in Pokémon Legends Arceus, I’ve finally loaded this back up today. Reckon I might just focus on cleaning the FOBs and the main quest though, the side stuff (outside of Spartan Cores) didn’t really grab me in the first few hours I played.
