Pretty much yeah, the Halo1-3 takes place over about 5months.

They really pack them in, the end of Reach is literally minutes between the start of Halo CE and same happens with 2-3.

I agree, the Reach Teaser "you've got Spartans on the ground sir, we're not going anywhere" and Halo 3's Finish the Fight are up there.

To be fair, The Infinite Teaser was pretty good too.

I know he's an enhanced super soldier and all that, but Chief probably really needed that lie down at the end of 3!

He literally did have a lie down, for 6 months. ;)

Humanity's fate hangs in the balance as the Master Chief returns in Halo Infinite to confront the most ruthless foe he's ever faced – the Banished. This song, "Set a Fire in Your Heart", is composed by Gareth Coker and was featured in the Campaign demo.

Chronologically it's Reach>ODST>3 but having played a fair bit of Reach It's not as good as I thought. I didn't actually REMEMBER REACH. Quality wise its Halo 3 > ODST >>>>>>>Reach.

What don't you like about Reach? I think it's the most consistent in terms of quality although going through ODST again at the moment it's pretty strawberry floating good.

Finishing Halo 3 on legendary has tainted it in my memory, the Cortana level is just so bad. I'd rather spend an eternity playing The Library than play that again.

Love it. The music in 4 and 5 was a major let down by this sounds great.

Beautiful Halo Infinite-Inspired Creation Made in Dreams for PS4

After watching the first-ever Halo Infinite gameplay during Microsoft’s Xbox Game Showcase last week, one Halo fan got excited about the idea of having a Halo game on a PlayStation console, which led them to create a short, but gorgeous Halo Infinite-inspired level in Dreams. A user that goes by Disarmed on Twitter and YouTube uploaded this video today that shows off just a few short seconds of the gameplay.

The video starts off with the same-looking glowing ring from the beginning of the Halo Infinite gameplay demo, and then we see the player walking up to a small cliff to admire the beautiful landscape in the distance.

Disarmed also mentions that Dreams for PS4 doesn’t use outside developing software at all –this project, like other Dreams creations, are made using the in-game tools and nothing else.

On one hand the article headline is an exquisite troll, on the other hand I'm sure all of GRcade stands united in agreement that it looks even better.

It's sounds epic and promising. It's amazing how those drums suddenly kicking in over the more classical music amplifies the excitement of the game to ten. It seems to be a stylistic signature of Marty O'Donnell and he uses it in PSVR game Golem. For the past few months he has been releasing Halo/Bungie content on his YouTube channel and I don't think he would not have been able to do this without permission from Microsoft so it did make me suspect he would be involved with the composition of Halo Infinite in some way but nothing has been said.

I couldn't get into ODST at all, I gave up around half way through. The first Halo is my favourite, then 3, then 2, then Reach, with ODST at the bottom. Haven't played 4 or 5.

For me, Reach was the most consistent campaign in the Bungie Halo games. There isn't a single bad level in it, and the weapons and general pacing are spot-on. The only thing it's missing are the Halo musical themes from 1/2/3, but it holds its own in that regard.

The 'Cortana' level absolutely ruined Halo 3 for me. I have no idea how that made it to the final game without someone in Bungie/MS piping up and saying 'this is a confusing mess'. You could have kept the atmosphere and general aesthetic with a less repetitive and easier to follow map. Don't get me started on the weird anus doors. 'The Library' in Halo: CE is considered the blip in that campaign, but it is leagues ahead of 'Cortana'.

Potentially controversial ranking ahead: Reach > Halo: CE > Halo 2 > Halo 5 > Halo 3 > Halo 4.

I'm still half-way through ODST but it's pretty good so far. I got distracted by Forza Horizon so I need to get back to it this week.

I don't think I played 4 or 5 but I would agree on Reach's campaign having the best pacing. I think I will always pick CE as my favourite for nostalgia reasons. 3 was good too, I can't really remember 2 though, feel it was a bit disappointing.

I found ODST dull and gave up half way.

ODST is definitely an interesting experience that offers something different to the rest of the series which is one of the reasons why I think I enjoyed it so much. I like that it brought back a similar health system from Halo 1 as well.

I don't really remember liking Reach that much, but I think I was pretty jaded on games in general around that time so I need to give it another go really.

Victor Mildew wrote:You can sort of tell from the ring world being broken that they'll use this to create natural areas. They've got to do something to mix it up a bit because if it was another linear game in style of the previous ones, it's just be accused of being a pretty entry in the series. Hopefully they can resist the urge to fill each area with gooseberry fool to tick off a list ubisoft style (the gun placements already look like this sort of thing). I don't know what the answer is, I mean does halo need to be earth shatteringly original? It's space men sci fi fun at the end of the day. Something more than just a far cry game would be nice though, something a bit more breath of the wild.

I didn't realise how much I wanted a sci-fi first person shooter BOTW until I read this post.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

I got game pass so I could play Halo CE again for the first time in years. It's crazy doing the comparisons in graphics, as I'd forgotten what it used to look like. I did always like the kind of foggy, cloudy feel of the original that isn't as prevalent in the remaster. I know the reason, but it removes a bit of the atmosphere and mystery.

I was enjoying the campaign until the part protecting Captain Keyes in Truth and Reconciliation. Jesus, I'd forgotten how stupid AI used to be, just running into enemies :dread:

I do think Cortana is probably the worst level in Halo's history, especially on legendary were you keep getting one shotted by those sh*tty flood turret things. As ive stated before, I really enjoy the Library now on MCC, it's not as long as I thought it was and you're given ample guns and ammunition to get through it.

I'm getting quite excited about Halo Infinite, I'll be pished if it's not complete enough at launch tho.
