I prefer couch co-op in stuff like the lego games, lovers in a dangerous space time, rayman and overcooked.

And that's fine, but to say you don't see the point in it just because you personally didn't use it is a bit silly, as is calling the people that asked for it 'trolls'.

For the record, I think Halo 5 has a piss poor campaign with forced AI co-op, one of my personal biggest annoyances in gaming. Multiplayer is better, but still not perfect, some of the new modes like Warzone Firefight are pretty dull.

Exactly.

Me and my mate have played nearly all the Halo games like this, and it's obvious fans of the series were disappointed when they announced it was cut from Halo 5. But then we're all trolls who know nothing apparently.

How dare we criticise anything MS related? Jesus Christ :fp:

I couldn't give a left bollock if anyone criticises MS you pleb, just don't think it's needed, I too played halo 1-3 in split screen as well as borderlands but prefer online now, nothing to do with MS, if battlefield did it id be livid also cos games take a graphical hit. I'd prefer a nicer looking 1 screen FPS, hardly a bizarre concept.

I said trolls because most of them on Halo waypoint are, I'd love to know the metric on couch co-op in Halo 4 v online. It faux outrage from folk who didn't even use it. Do you want split screen in every FPS game now? Overwatch? COD? Titanfall? Why don't they offer it? Exactly.

It's a tiny feature at best. Better to jettison and keep SP fame rate at 60fps

Does Overwatch even have a campaign?

Best to keep 60fps :slol: Chasing that figure gave us the hideous vaseline lense motion blur of Halo: Reach and losing co-op in Halo 5, so maybe they should stop trying and just see how it goes.

That was an awful argument anyway tbf. Why not have 60fps in single player and cap it at ~30 for split screen? It was an excuse to try and make them look less lazy.

Nope, just exacerbated at idiocy of people. Why would I care if someone slagged off a multi million enterprise? I love halo and don't think it needs split screen but you have plebs reading that very point and making up some bizarre motive that doesn't exist, face palm and leave. I've partially moved to another forum already cos if this stuff.

I post in lots of game threads here but if it's an Xbox exclusive any point I make is immediately invalidated it's very VERY annoying. I don't care about anyone criticising MS it any of its studios, why on earth would I? Infuriating.

Jesus dude, calm down.

I'm not having a dig at the game, I'm just saying I'm disappointed. Maybe I was being a bit harsh on you being Mr MS in my previous post and for that I apologise.

But regarding the issue, it's clearly a splitscreen game, it's in all the others isn't it? I get online is bigger than splitscreen and takes priority but it's a relatively easy thing to implement. I think. And no I don't expect it to be in every FPS, only two I can think of is Halo and Borderlands. And Doom. Does the new one have it? I've yet to play it.

It's really good to hear Bonnie Ross/Microsoft say this and it sounds sincere as if they have been evaluating the negative reactions to MCC & H5. My friends and I have played Halo split-screen since the first game and have done in all subsequent games whenever we have met up. When a friend was first with XBO and Halo 5 everyone was perplexed as to why the newest game didn't have split screen! It is a great social experience, whilst not for everybody it is big part of the DNA of the Halo games. So in the words of Embrace gamers have wanted to say 'come back to what you know.' It seems Microsoft have heeded that message and understand the mantra embedded within Field of Dreams 'If you build they will come.' I hope other FPS makers learn take heed.

No worries Fuzzy, nope Doom doesn't have split screen. Btw, split screen in Halo CE Anniversary oddly cuts off half the guns compared to original split screen. Odd.

There is definitely some revisionist history going on here as Halo 5 reviewed well and the multiplayer is still very popular.

Hey man, I know people can be fiercely loyal to their favourite console but come on! When Halo: The Master Chief Collection launched it had severe problems with the online multiplayer that left many gamers waiting for matchmaking. Xbox websites, dedicated Xbox fans (on here too) all can confirm this. Microsoft themselves have spoken and apologised for it. To ignore the connectivity issues with Halo: MCC is revisionist.

Halo 5 did receive substantially positive reviews. Whilst not broken it received criticism from the public for the story, the lack of Master Chief, dedicated fans on Halo Waypoint and elsewhere have explained why they found it disappointing. Bloomberg reported that US chain Gamestop said sales were disappointing. I have yet to play Halo 5, it being Microsoft's biggest franchise I'm sure it is a game of the highest quality but whether it be the story, ad campaign, lack of split-screen 4-player, a crowded FPS market or something else, I don't know, it hasn't engaged the Xbox community as much as other Halo games.

Halo 5 has highest sustained MP numbers apart from Halo 3 beating Halo 2, Halo Reach, ODST and Halo 4. It has engaged the Xbox community.

I just couldn't take to Halo 5's MP. Just think it's gotten really stale and I tried giving it a go but playing through all games in single player through the MCC to 5 was great and I enjoyed the break up playing as both Master Chief and Luke Cage.

Sorry I was specifically talking about Halo 5, MCC was an absolute horror show.

You'd struggle to find a single game that doesn't garner criticism from the public these days, especially ones that are popular. No doubt it some people have moved away from the series but the fifth game in a series is very unlikely to gain a new fan base but it has definitely found an audience.

Seriously, give it a go. I was massively sceptical and waited ages to play it and wound up being pleasantly surprised even if the boss fights are gooseberry fool.

Photek's making the classic argument whereby he discounts how others use the game because he personally doesn't use it jthat way.

Ironically, on consoles at least, the original Halo got its reputation in multiplayer largely because it was an excellent split screen game. No-one could play it online over the original Xbox (there might have been an unofficial way to do so but this would have been a tony minority).

Consequently, many people who started out with that first Halo back on the original Xbox (myself included), possibly tried and enjoyed Halo's split screen modes after finishing the SP stuff. It had a co-op campaign, which at that time wasn't really the norm.

This wasn't just the devs not sticking a feature in, this was them removing a feature that had been a staple of Halo multiplayer from the start. Even as the online focus grew, the split-screen was still there for fans who enjoyed playing co-op with a friend by their side.

It would be like Mario Kart 9 getting rid of split screen. Sure, online might be more popular in general these days, but it would be removing one of the aspects people enjoy about the series.

I suppose in a broader sense too, 343 removing split screen might reinforce some people's opinions that they misunderstand an important part of what made Halo what it is, and another mis-step they've made with the franchise over the past few years.

Personally I think Halo 5 is pretty rank. There are positives, they've supported it well, IMO the campaign was one of the better things about the game but they really shat on the Halo gameplay in favour of trying to pull in some of the COD crowd... graphically it's strawberry floating ugly as hell in multiplayer too. I eventually got a bit fed up with it and switched to Overwatch. Nipped on H5 a few weeks ago and booted up a game of BTB and Lord Almighty was it even more obvious why I really dislike Halo 5. It was like entering a time warp into the PS1 era in terms of visuals, which is strange because in the campaign it's a really nice looking game.

PS1? Really? Well hello Captain Hyperbole!

BTB is made on forge, The original maps in Arena and Warzone are on par with the campaign,
saying all of that, getting Forge versions of older maps for free is ace.

Check out me playing BTB Valhalla made in Forge for Halo 5:

Warzone Firefight (me and Monkeyman), on par with campaign:
