Up to episode 4 and I'm rather enjoying Halo.

It's fine. The very definition of middle-of-the-road TV entertainment.

It takes a few liberties with the source material, which is the source of most of the complaints I guess, but I found it perfectly enjoyable.

Yep, it's ok.

I just watched the first episode of this and it’s alright. Not sure what’s going on with that human working with the Covenant, seems like a bit of a liberty being taken but that’s understandable.

My main problem is they didn't make Master Chief British enough.
Why bother with a British actor if you don't go all in on the Britishness?

933,000 watched the 1st episode on Channel 5 (on a TV set). 477,000 Live, 55,000 within the same day, and another 402,000 within 7 days on-demand using either a DVR or My5.

58,000 were aged 16-24. Skewed heavily male, with 608,000 of the audience. Of those, 316,000 were ABC1 (higher social and economic group, consisting of people who have more education and a better-paid job). Finished 10th for Channel 5 in the rankings for the week. Easily beat Channel 4's The Bridge: Race To A Fortune, which pulled in 220,000 Live and 448,000 overall.

McDonald’s has now confirmed that they’re giving away 4,000 Paramount+ 12 month Subscriptions, and a further 500,000 1 month passes (both instant win) as part of their annual Monopoly promotion that starts 7th September 2022. The second season of 'Halo' officially began filming last Monday (August 15) in Budapest, Hungary, with the majority of the cast and crew. The remaining cast is set to join the production this week.

'Halo' Season 2 production will take more than ten months to wrap up in June 2023. We can also confirm that in addition to the present team of Spartans, there will be another female member (soldier) joining the Silver Team of Master Chief in Season 2.

Seeing the current production schedule and amount of post-production this series required, we can expect Season 2 to premiere sometime in later 2023 or the first quarter of 2024.

I know this series got a lot of flack but I thought it was pretty good.
I didn't mind that it wasn't the exact same story as the games as even if they tried that you'd still have people nitpicking about how it doesn't exactly follow the books or some obscure lore from the games.

Like I said, I enjoyed it for what it is and I'm just happy to finally have a Halo series. I hope they don't cancel if after 2 series but it wouldn't surprise me after the negative comments.

I still don't really understand why they had to use a different universe. If you discount the books (which Star Wars and Star Trek have always done) there was so much to be mined from the main game universe. Aside from the viral teases, hardly anything is revealed in game about the wider universe aside from Chiefs missions.

I think it goes back to the wider problem that major franchises are having these days where they seem intent on getting writers that don't understand the universe. Picard, Rings of Power, ST Discovery, and Obi Wan all seemed to fall into that trap.

It's probably a wider issue in this case too. For decades, video-game movies have felt the need to change dramatically for on screen adaptations. It just isn't needed and it serves nobody.

I’ve been watching this on 4K Blu Ray (quality difference between Paramount+ is enormous) and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s a bit complicated in places and episode 7 felt like filler (plus they killed off the best person!) but looking forward to season 2. The shoehorned in sex scene wasn’t great either (less Game of Thrones, more ‘we’re on US cable’).

Worth noting I’ve not played Halo since the original game so the fact it’s apparently taking extreme liberties with the source material is lost on me.

Weird that the running time of each episode is also all over the place.
