The Dukedom of Hannivalia is a small country nestled in the Alps, traditionally held to be the place where Hannibal crossed into Italy during the events of the Second Punic War. Centuries later the nation finds itself in a new crisis, with an untested Duke on the throne and tensions growing between its nascent parliament and the traditional power of the Church. As members of parliament, players will not only struggle to survive in a game of Mafia, but also vote on laws that may change the rules of the game itself.
From the Office of the Duke
Hannibal once drove elephants through our beautiful alpine passage - now YOU can drive legislation through our nation's parliament!
Please confirm your election as a member of parliament by replying to this thread.
Elections end Monday 25th October.
Parliamentary business commences Tuesday 26th October.
The duration of the session shall depend on the number of elected members, but is estimated at less than two weeks. Positions on parliamentary committees and other such roles shall be confirmed the day prior to commencement.
Hannivalian parliament follows a simple structure. A Speaker is elected by their peers for the duration of the session (or until the very unlikely event of their death). Each day the Speaker puts forward a pre-prepared piece of legislation for parliament to debate and vote on either in favour or against. At the end of the day, the votes are tallied and if successful the proposed legislation becomes law.
A list of pre-prepared legislation will be made available at the commencement of the parliamentary session.
The parliamentary day begins at 9am and ends at 9pm.
Parliamentary Roles
In addition to the Speaker, several other offices exist within parliament. While the nature of these offices will be known and posted at the commencement of parliament, the member of parliament holding each office shall remain secret in an effort to stamp out corruption.
Emergency Lockdown Protocol
The safety of our nation's lawmakers is of paramount concern. While the possibility of such measures being required is remote, in the event of an emergency the Duke will instruct the Royal Guard to enact lockdown protocol.
In the event of lockdown, entry and exit from the Grand Hall will be restricted to members of the Royal Guard. Members of parliament will be expected to continue debate during the day whilst sleeping within the confines of the Grand Hall at night. Voting on a package of emergency laws shall replace current business under the direction of the Speaker. These laws shall be made known at the commencement of lockdown.
In the exceedingly unlikely event of inflitration of parliament by hostile actors, parliament may be instructed to identify and remove said actors through democratic vote, surrenduring such actors to the custody of the Royal Guard, who under the authority of the Duke will deal out such punishment as required up to and including death by public execution.
Lockdown protocol shall be lifted once the immediate danger to parliament has been eliminated.
tl;dr - AYAW. Starts 26 Oct. This is the sign up thread! The game will have the usual vote to lynch during the day and there will be the usual night actions. Each day there will also be a vote that may change the rules of the game itself. Detailed rules will be laid out in the game thread. Sign up now, it will be fun!

In case you're wondering, Duke Hanno IV is my alter-ego and I will be running the game. It'll be the first I've run on GRcade, so I'm looking forward to it! Any questions feel free to ask, but when it comes to the detailed rules those will be posted when the game starts - you'll likely want to discuss them as part of the game
Actually read the rules now and voting on rule changes to the game itself sounds really fun and exciting. I can see some big discussions and massive arguments on the horizon
