Only suggestion I have is don't listen to them in bed. I tend to have mine on in the car to and from work, whilst I'm mowing the lawn or hoovering, and when I'm at work doing a boring task that doesn't require much concentration.

That was when they killed all the Rangers fans.

For breaking up the podcast, use Spotify to listen to it if possible - it saves the bit you were on automatically.

I have listened to every episode of this that I was able to get my hands on. It really is an outstanding podcast, very informative while also being entertaining.

Blueprint for Armageddon was :dread: Obviously I was aware of how horrific WW1 was, but listening to Carlin talk about Verdun, the Somme and all of the other battles was just astonishing. I can’t even comprehend the misery that all of those people went through. Ghosts of the Ostfront was similar, just horrific. :dread:

I loved the one set Munster (I can’t remember the name of the podcast). Religion is crazy at the best of times, but that was just insanity.

My favourite podcasts though were the Roman ones. Death Throes of the Republic, Punic Nightmares and the Celtic Holocaust were fantastic and fit right in to a section of history that I love. I remember thinking this when I watched HBO’s Rome series, but it always amazes me the number of famous people that were living and interacting at the same period of history, Julius Caesar, Augustus, Pompey, Mark Anthony, Titus Pullo, Cleopatra etc.

It's a series of about 4 or 5 episodes. And it's absolutely immense (not long immense, just incredible immense).

Before you get too excited Preezy, I don’t think it is available for free anymore. You’d have to pay to download it from his website, or “acquire” it via nefarious means. :shifty:

His podcasts are one of the few things I don't actually mind paying money for, that and sex.

A buck a show, that’s all they ask.

In the first 8 minutes of Ghosts of Ostfront and Carlin's already got me hooked:

If you removed the Eastern Front from WW2 and looked at it in isolation it would be the largest war in human history. The Eastern Front was more costly and larger than the whole of WW1.

I'll have to give that one a download. I've only listened to blueprint for armageddon and that was a fascinating listen. Such a bizarre and pointless war. I'd like to go back to Imperial War Museum having listened to it, as before when I went the ww1 section was quite overwhelming.

If people are interested in WW1 then 'Yesterday' are doing a WW1 series at the moment - makes a change from Hitler! - call 'WW1 in Numbers'. Watched it last night and for the first time ever I began to understand why it all kicked off and why it was irreversible. The clearest explanation of the state of empires across the world before the war, the relationships between them etc. Excellent stuff.

I’ve not listened to it yet, but Dan Carlin has released a “pilot” episode on YouTube.

Just finished King of Kings on YouTube today. Fantastic series. Will be listening to Destroyer of Worlds and Celtic Holocaust at work next week, but then I think I'm all out of freebies. :( I'd buy some, but I couldn't bring them in to work, no way they'd let me bring an SD card in.

Finished Ghosts of the Ostfront - unsurprisingly brutal and horrific. What a senseless waste of life.

Also listened to his pilot over the weekend, really good. I'd quite like to hear him do some stuff on the Vietnam war as well, I'm sure he'll get round to it one day.

When you buy them you can put them into your iTunes and just play them from your phone/ipod. No good?
