Have you ever had one of the big nasty viruses like SARS, swine flu etc?

Only had a flu years and years ago. It was horrible feeling.

I remember the swine flu was round at 2008/09 but I never got caught from it.

I had flu in 2015, but i don't know whether it was the seasonal or swine variety.

Was some nasty gooseberry fool though.

Had a nasty combo of flu and pneumonia about ten years ago and genuinely thought I was going to die, was in bed for the entire Christmas/New year fortnight and the amount of horrific green phlegm I was coughing up was unbelievable.

Also had Scarlet Fever as a child and was almost admitted to hospital.

I had real flu once about 15 years ago and it was strawberry floating horrible, properly wiped me out for at least a week.

Other than that I think the worst illness I've had was when I got necrotic tonsillitis which is basically where the tissue in the throat around the tonsils is essentially dying inside you. Not very nice at all. :dread:

I've had a pretty strong dose of flu once which took me out of action for over a week. I couldn't even watch TV it was so bad! Just a dark room and water for 5-6 days.

I'm currently got a mild flu that I've had for 8-9 days now which just won't go

Got Swine Flu in 2009. Don't remember it being bad at all. I vomited and felt a bit rubbish for 1 day but otherwise recovered very fast. I think I had Tamiflu to help with it though.

Not aware of ever having regular Flu and only got the Flu vaccine once last year (paid £12 to get it privately done since not in a high risk free group).

Did a week in hospital with swine flu. Don't remember much of it, was totally delirious but it wasn't a good time.

The last time I was ill was around 12 years ago and it was just for one night (I think it was mild food poisoning) I don’t hardly ever get colds, coughs or headaches, I can’t say it’s down to being healthy because my diet is probably nutritionally pretty terrible, my partner has a cold at the moment (but thinks it’s flu)

I’m eventually going to get Dual, and that’ll be it for me I reckon.

I've never had any kind of flu at. The worst I've had is tonsillitis. Everyone in my office couldn't believe that I had got to 37 and never had flu. I would imagine that I am just lucky as opposed to having some sort of immunity to big diseases.

I'd wager a fair few of them have probably also never had flu, but just self diagnosed their bad colds as flu instead.

I've had flu once in 31 years, and I'd be elated if I never got it again.

You did not have anything even close to flu.

It can be difficult to tell a severe cold from a mild flu by symptoms alone. A rule of thumb is that if you have a fever, a cough, and muscle aches at the same time, it could quite plausibly be a flu infection.

The only two incidences I have had which I would confidently say were flu were because on top of all the other shite were the facts I was totally unable to move and when I was able to stay awake I was hallucinating
