Richer sounds did a nice price match with an extra £20 back and LG will send some wireless ear buds out aswell.

How are you finding the TV after the first week? I'm moving house tomorrow and have ordered the same model a size up to arrive on the weekend, hoping to have it all set up ready for the Wales game on Saturday.

All good so far the footy in UHD is very nice , haven't gamed on it yet properly played a little BOTW and it looked great. It handles HD tv well SD not so great but that is to be expected. I did notice that it comes with 2 calibrated modes but found in eco or standard the picture is good.

Sounds good, it's my first OLED so looking forward to getting it all set up. I'm not sure whether to watch the Wales game in UHD as often the stream is ever so slightly behind and I don't want someone messaging me or the neighbours giving away there's been a goal

Sony has announced their first home theatre system which will include support for HDMI 2.1, offering full support for 4K and 8K video, 4K gaming at 120Hz, Dolby Vision HDR, and eARC.

The HT-A7000 Dolby Atmos 7.1.2-channel soundbar, priced at US $1,299.99, has two HDMI 2.1 inputs, so can run both a PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

The HT-A7000 has two up-firing speakers for Atmos, two beam tweeters, five front speakers for wider surround and built-in dual subwoofer. If you want more power, Sony’s selling a 300-watt wireless subwoofer for $699.99 or a 200-watt unit for $399.99. The company is also selling optional wireless rear surrounds for $349.99.

Sony also has a more premium sound solution, called the HT-A9, which consists of four wireless speakers and a small control box unit. Sony says you can place the four cylinder-shaped speakers pretty much anywhere in a room, and the sound field optimization will take their position into account when tuning the audio performance.

If Sony isn’t your bag, Klipsch has also just announced a similar Atmos bar called the Cinema 1200, also featuring two HDMI 2.1 inputs and bundled subwoofer and surrounds, priced $1,699.

I’d completely overlooked that current soundbars aren’t compatible with many of the latest features.

I accidentally bought an LG BX 55 last week, thinking it was a CX at bargain price. Didn't cancel the order as the differences between the two don't seem that big and it was still a good price.

Having played around with it now I'm very happy with the TV. I had concerns that the menus might be sluggish with the slower CPU but it's only really the TV Guide that's a bit slow and I think the CX also has that problem.

Picture is incredible, particularly in Dolby Vision 4K. With HDR10 I was finding some black crush but it has got better as I've tweaked the settings. The sound is also much better than I expected and I don't think I will bother with a sound bar.

I've replaced the first 5 freeview channels with their HD equivalents and they all look fine. Anything SD on freeview looks gooseberry fool, but that's to be expected.

Overall very happy. Just need to find a PS5 now...

Strange question, possibly, but has anyone got any experience of selling an old TV? (yes, you've guessed it....I want to upgrade! :) ). As my partner has told me a couple of times over the weekend, the TV 'works fine, there is nothing wrong with it....'

I've got a 2017 LG 55" 4K UHD TV and want to upgrade to the 2021 model. In the past few weeks, there have been a couple of the same model I have sell on eBay for between £350-£400 and I'd be delighted if I could get that for my one. But I'd like to avoid eBay. Has anyone got any experience of selling an old TV?

I would try AVforums classifieds.

I've been offered a brand new LG CX55 for £700.
The downside is that it has two 2-3mm black dots on the left hand side of the screen. Quite close to the edge.

I don't think it'll be that noticeable on such a large screen. But not sure if it's worth the £300-400 saving :/

I'd avoid it, myself. That extra £300 on a shop bought LG OLED will also net you the all important 5 year warranty and screen burn guarantee.

While it’s a bargain price for that model, it’s still a lot to spend on a defective TV.

Every time there’s a light-coloured scene, you won’t resist looking for those dots. And if you ignore them, they’ll grow larger in your subconscious. You’ll never be free of them, and never be happy with the TV.

YOU GUYS JUST WANT IT FOR YOURSELVES!

To be fair though I think you're right. I'd always be looking for the dots in every scene probably, best to leave if anything for my mental health :slol:

Turns out it's on the right hand side of the telly.. but here's where they've advertised it online if anyone else is interested:

Those Dots are pretty tiny though...

Try the screen refresh or pixel refresh function. Not sure if it'll help.

Ive now hit a potential stumbling block with my OLED 65 C from 2017. It doesn't have HDMI 2.1 so 120hz is tricky because the PS5 doesn't have VRR yet. Hopefully a future upgrade will address it somewhat.

It wont run warzone at 120 FPS. Not sure how much im missing out but as the next upgrade for me will be 8K - That isn't happening for a while. That small quibble aside - it's still an absolute delight. The picture is just spectacular and any new well implemented 4k source just shines.

Is it HDMI 2.0? It should still be able to do 120fps, albeit at 1080p.

I don't know how much LG would charge to fix it (though many manufactures don't seem to want to know when it comes to stuck pixels, meaning the only option is a third party engineer). Samsung quoted me over £500 about 12 years ago to fix their screen burned LCD (at 26", it was just shy of the actual worth of the TV!).

Anyone have any experience with fixing audio syncing issues when running a bluray player through an AV receiver?

I've tried using the lip sync/audio delay settings on the receiver (2020 Yamaha RX-VA4) to no avail and updated the firmware as that supposedly helps (it doesn't) but I'm beginning to suspect it might be the HDMI cable from the bluray causing it as it doesn't have the problem when watching TV (freesat box connected via HDMI to a different socket on the receiver).

I noticed this morning looking at Currys that 8K TVs have now fallen in price again, and easily match their 4K counterparts (though the 4K options will still net you a better TV).

The LG 55NANO956NA is £949 (!), Samsung QE55Q700TATXXU £1,098, and LG 55NANO966PA with a soundbar £1,399 (unsurprisingly sold out).

Seems to me like the TV manufactures find themselves in the same position they did in 2005 and again in 2010ish with 3D where they were way ahead of the content producers. The speed at which Samsung and LG have got these prices down means 8K TV will be the predominant seller within the next 2-3 years on their non-OLED screens but there will be nothing to watch. I think there's a small chance BT will have a few football matches in 8K in 2022 (had it not been for Covid they probably would have had it for this season) but I dread to think what the subscription cost will be.

Naughty of Sony to slap the 8K badge on the PS5 when I doubt even the PS5 Pro will be able to manage it on proper games. Hasn't stopped (supposed) budget brand TCL announcing an 8K partnership with Activision & the newest COD though: https://www.whathifi.com/news/tcl-x92-8 ... its-sights

I honestly don't see the point in games trying for 8K when they're struggling with 4K and ray tracing as it is.
I doubt even PS6 will be able to do 8K and have ray tracing enabled and stay at 60fps.
