I'm very much out of the loop on TV knowledge compared to how I used to be. Not even sure which websites are now most trusted for reviews.
Particularly with "what's the different HDR modes from manufacturers and what ones do I need for optimum 4k HDR and Netflix HDR"?
Another thing with my current 4k TV is it only does 4k over HDMI1 instead of all 3 HDMI sockets which is infuriating.
I think it's pretty much the LG C1 I'm looking at but possibly the Panasonic Z1000. Would that be general consensus for top choices in the £1,000 to £1,500 range?

https://www.which.co.uk/reviews/televis ... RJb9O3rPPx Netflix uses HDR10 and Dolby Vision; Prime supports all the main ones; Disney and Apple also support Dolby Vision. I find them all more than acceptable, tbh. Though, Dolby Vision does have a undeniable extra lustre to it. Some of the 2021 sets have sensors on them which measure the ambient light in the room and then adjusts the HDR accordingly. (Fancy.) Dolby Vision IQ and HDR10+ offer this feature. Make sure your set has HDR10/10+ and Dolby Vision and you'll be sorted. (Main difference between 10+ + Dolby Vision and standard HDR: 10+ and DV are dynamic – they're able to work on a per scene basis.)
Super helpful! Thank you!
Seems like HDR is still a bit of a mess like the last time I looked into it. Samsung doesn't have Dolby Vision but does have HDR10+ whilst the LG OLEDs are the opposite. And Panasonic OLEDs and Sony TVs seem to have both but their screens are LG panels but cost more without necessarily being better TVs.
HDR10+ seems like the format which won't survive.
Definitely looking like the LG C1 55" screen is the TV I'll be getting. Looked at the next model up, the G1 but the benefits seem marginal in comparison to the price increase + the stupidly don't include the stand.
Does LG expect me to go for the Ad7 set up of mounted way too high up above the fire place?!
Only slightly annoying thing with the C1 is that it sits quite low in the stand and I'll be wanting a soundbar (another bloody minefield!) to sit in front of it without obscuring the image.
Sony and Samsung both seem to have soundbars with Dolby Atmos at the same price. Surprisingly LG's cheapest soundbar with Dolby Atmos is quite a bit more expensive.
These 2 posts are great!
