Mine arrived too, not tried them yet but I doubt they'll be as good as my Sennheiser ones, I'll probably use them as a secondary pair for when I forget to charge them (or they don't charge, which occasionally happens).

These are the first wireless buds I have owned and I am impressed with the sound. For a freebie you can’t go wrong

Certainly a great freebie, they're still £100 earbuds so they definitely won't sound hideous (probably better than the Apple ones anyway).

I missed out on those BECAUSE REASONS  :fp: :x I shouldn't complain as I landed a Switch + AC:NH and Minecraft for £100. And yet, I am still pissed off.

So! Can someone draw up a list (or even link to previous convos in here) of must see 4K content? I have Prime, Netflix and also a 4K player coming my way in November :P

I have my eyes on Planet Earth II; Blue Planet II; Mad Max; and Bladerunner 2049. What else should I be looking to watch/buy?

Out 30th November 2020, priced £100.

Films still split across multiple discs mean I'd rather stream these. Even the SDR versions.

Got the CX.

Initial thoughts due to default saturated and sharpened image: SHITE.

Thoughts during UHD 1917:

Installed it solo. Grabbed it in all the wrong places. Will be bricking it for months to come.

I checked out the CX in John Lewis over the weekend and I am amazed how thin it is at the top! Can’t wait for mine to arrive :toot:

Question, other than buying an Apple TV 4K, is there a way I can watch 4k content purchased through the Apple store on the LG CX?

I can't figure out what you're asking

Have you already got the content and are wondering if you can watch it on the CX? The answer is 'yes'. If you're asking are there other platforms you'll be able to watch the 4K Apple TV content you purchase on the CX... that I'm not 100% sure of. I know the Apple app was available on the 4K versions of Fire Stick and Roku last time I checked...

 sorry

What I mean is, if I have purchased content on ITunes (let’s say a 4K movie) is it possible to play that film on the TV? Via an app on the TV or can I stream it from my Apple device maybe?

Also SoK, what calibration settings are you using for the CX? What guide did you use?

I don't use Apple or iTunes and so I cannot say. But there is a Apple TV app on there by default, so hopefully you'll be okay.

I used this: https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/lg/cx-oled/settings Not a calibration as such, more suggestions than anything else. I'm using their suggestions for the isf Expert(Dark Room) for SDR content, and leaving settings untouched when HDR content is playing. During 1917 there was a moment where the screen went fully black and the sound cut out and I thought the set had turned off! Not dissing the Samsung Q90T (I may yet end up with that when I get a 4K for the living room) but I'm more than happy with the OLED picture. And the TV's speakers! WTF! They're really good! Not missing the soundbar one bit.

:fp: :x Netflix. I had no idea they had a 4K subscription. I'll get around to upgrading my sub, but when there's this much stuff on Prime and elsewhere (iPlayer has Blue Planet II UHD - though it isn't marked as UHD - as well as Dynasties and His Dark Materials) I'm not in any rush.

I’ll have to give the app a try when I get mine

Have you tried a game on it yet? Wonder if you might need to adjust some settings for that. Good to know about the sound quality though.

Sharpness will be set to 10 and make SDR look fugly as sin. Correct that asap. I haven't played a game on it, but I did boot base PS4 up and everything looked good - no fizzy white text, etc. Prime looks like gooseberry fool when you're browsing in the menu - blocky-ish images and saturated colours all over, but once HDR gooseberry fool plays and TV switches over in to that mode, automatically(!), the moving image is stunning.

SoK, don't bother upgrading your Netflix subscription to 4K, there's hardly anything worth watching on it.

Think I watched about three things in 4K before reverting to the HD tier as there wasn't anything else I wanted to watch or hadn't already seen.

Watch this to get a good idea of how to get the best from settings:

There are scenes in 1917 where the camera pans or trucks which results in judder in the image. So yeah, not saying the TV is totally perfect or anything like that. (This could be remedied with TruMotion or something but that would then cause the "soap opera effect" - everything moves TOO smoothly.)

Intermission over. Returning to the bleakness of 1917.

Just to clear up what I meant here: The screen quickly went from full image to complete black for a number of seconds. The image then slowly returns, slowly transitioning from black to full image.

Okay. So when the image first went fully black in that scene, I couldn't tell where the screen ended and the makeshift blackout blinds in the room began :o  :o Totally blew my mind.

Our current TV has started exhibiting odd behaviour. Sometimes the backlight will just drop right back as if its going into some kind of eco mode making it harder to see things and now it has also started just randomly changing input source whenever it feels like it! :dread:

Hopefully I can diagnose and resolve any issues but failing that what would be the go to option for a solid, approximately 40" TV these days?

I've switched off tone mapping and dynamic contrast - the super bright image looked amazing, but I think it would give me eye strain if I had to look at it at that brightness every time I used it!

I'll probably turn off most of the image processing stuff when I get mine set up.

Did the same with my Sony one and found it looked better as a result.
