Extremely frustrating, it's a big beautiful brick at this point

What's the point of passwords when there's an published over ride code?

Its a TV not a nuclear missile silo.

To be fair though, what's then the point of a code at all?

You say that but a woman on CSI Cyber last week hacked into a Smart TV and that brought down the whole hospital computer system and infected the gui (pronounced "Gooey") with malware. So there.

How heavy was the 55"? It's what I've gone for but am fearing I won't be able to shift it solo. They're not as heavy as plasmas, I know that much, but still...

New TVs are easy for one person to lift, they're really light. 15kg wouldn't be uncommon.

New tv's are way lighter than they used to be. The real issue is being able to physically grip it enough to lift it if it's a larger set.

I had to have help lifting ours on to the unit as it's just strawberry floating massive and being so thin, I really felt like there was a good chance of dropping it. It was attaching the stand which was tricky, as that obviously can't be done with the screen flat. Needed support lifting an edge, then attaching the stand, still supporting, then both lifting and putting on the unit.

Oh, cool. It’s a fantastic set, and I’m unhesitatingly happy with it.

It’s not massively heavy, at least until the stand is attached, but it’s awkward. Too wide for me to hold at both edges at once, and the top half is just screen, so terrifyingly thin.

Learn from my mistake: the instructions (all pictorial, so not very helpful) show the TV being placed screen-down on a table. I didn’t have a suitable surface, so it had to be the floor. Only then I realised that (obviously, in hindsight) the screen has to be raised off the floor in order to attach the stand. (Not just a facepalm - a full-on self-punch).

What worked for me was taking the outer box - really just a sleeve, but sturdy cardboard - and placing the packaging polystyrene back inside it so it didn’t collapse. That was strong enough to hold the screen far enough off the floor to fit the stand.

Then the only tricky parts are lowering it onto the box, and finally lifting it to where you want it to live. I struggled and did this solo, which involved grasping the thin section for the brief lift. I was lucky, but it seems massively risky. If you can get anyone to help you, do. I was too impatient to wait for a suitable assistant.

Also, there are various videos of people fitting the stand, which were more useful than the supplied instructions, so have a look for those. Final tip: there’s a protective plastic sheet on the back of the screen, as well as the front, so don’t forget to enjoy the satisfaction of peeling that off.

This one’s 23kg. 4kg of which is the stand. At least I’m confident it’s not going to fall over any time soon.

Wall mounting one sounds like its going to be fun :dread:

Fortunately I won't be the one doing it, just watching in horror as the screen flexes ominously.

I've looked up some videos and I have a better understanding of it. Cheers. The front stand having to click into place sound like a ball ache.

Got my eye on the LG OLED55BX6LB but have just been informed by my brother that he can get 20% off Samsung TVs through work (not sure how as he works for a pharmaceutical company) so might have to look at their QLED offerings.

How do they compare with OLED?

Go for the CX over the BX.

There's a bit at the bottom about the difference

Is there really that much difference?

Is there really that much difference?

The CX has the newer, faster processor and has a higher peak brightness making it better for HDR.
