After thinking about it, I think I'm going to plop for a QLED. It'd be nice to play with the curtains drawn back, and I like the idea of brightness over true blacks; a deep black is great, but when coupled with a screen which limits brightness and doesn't have as vibrant colours? I dunno. It's just a shame Samsung don't do the Q90T in anything smaller than huge :fp:

My QLED gives a gorgeous picture.

I’m quite tempted by the LG CX - the first 48-inch OLED. £1499, but you can also get a PS4 Pro and Spider-Man for only £149 extra.

I think, for the distance I sit, a 55-inch would be just slightly too much, so a 48 would be great. Currently got a 42.

The distance things puzzles :lol:

With 1080P it was you have to be sat far enough away or it won't look much different to 720P, and now that's changed to you have to be sat closer to get the full benefit of 4K.

Changed my mind. Again. But only because Samsung don't offer smaller/cheaper versions of the Q90T. So I will go with the 48" CX. At least the screen being super reflective won't be a new issue for me, as my main set is a plasma, and my gaming TV is a very reflective LCD.

I’ve just measured my TV stand. I think that means I’m getting serious.

The stand is 1070mm. The TV is 1071. It’s like it was meant to be.

So close, you're going to have to get the belt sander out.

Could be worse. A 55” was going to stick out 8cm each side. Even that, I could have lived with.

Anyone here got first-hand experience of OLED burn-in? It’s the one thing that’s making me hesitate.

I was feeling a bit bad about replacing my current TV so soon. I thought I’d had it three or four years. Just checked, and I bought it in January 2013. So I feel less bad now, especially as that one will itself replace another TV elsewhere, that dates from 2007. And the 2007 set will go to a good home too.

And I would go for the biggest telly you can fit in the room. I went for a 55” and while it seemed big at first, we’ve soon got used to it. Next time I upgrade (not any time soon), I’ll probably go for 65”+.

Cheers for that video. I love that guy. I watched another one he did, where he was looking at the setup of the model I’m thinking of buying. His delivery is so plain and matter-of-fact, then he throws in something like calling himself a priori-tit, completely deadpan.

But curse you for the comment about the 55”. I was all set to buy the 48”, and now you’ve got me reconsidering. I’ve measured the distance to the screen in my current set-up, and it’s 7 feet. I thought that would make a 55” too large, but having looked at various sites, it sounds like it’s right in the sweet-spot for a 55.

LG OLED 55" is amazing, whoever recommended it here was damn right.

He starts a comparison video between the C9 and CX by calling his audience tossers for not listening to his previous disclaimers on not being able to compare picture quality through a YouTube video. I took a proper double take at that. :lol:

I'm thinking of jumping in on a CX but the fact I'll be using it in a lit living room is deterring me, with Samsung's higher end QLEDs seeming a better all rounder.

Always always always go for the biggest tv you can both fit in your room and afford.

Go for OLED over QLED.

Go for a C9/B9 - they’re cheaper than the 48” CX.

And wall mount it so you don’t have to worry about your TV stand being too small. :nod:

As for all the QLED talk - my OLED is in a room with glass patio doors and I’ve never had any issues with my bright room performance.

I have thought about wall mounting, but I think it’ll be OK overhanging the stand. It’s well out of the way.

I had considered the C9, though they don’t seem to be in stock any more, where I’ve looked. The appeal of the CX is its games credentials, and I’m mainly buying this set for its performance with the next gen consoles, so getting the latest version makes more sense. Also, the PS4 Pro bundle offsets a huge chunk of the price increase over the C9.
