I'm in the same camp. 4k content generally looks strawberry floating amazing on my tv, so the bluray of fellowship was a real disappointment.

But what's the difference between the LG B8 and LG C8? There's a £400 price difference and I can't find any actual technical difference between them.

Bezel and stand ?

C8 to W8 all use LG's new custom-built Alpha 9 picture processor, while the B8 sets have a new version of LG's Alpha 7 processor from 2017.

So it sounds like the C8 is worth going for if you can, with the more powerful processor being a bit better for motion and likely better for the Smart features. A bit more digging shows the C8 also has a bit more RAM compared to the B8 as well.

Yup, these smart systems on newer TVs run a lot smoother than a couple of years back due to them now being accompanied by suitable processors.

Die Hard 4K is a great transfer by the way

https://www.avforums.com/review/die-har ... nchor55091

Thankfully the wait was worth it, as the film's debut Ultra HD Blu-ray release is (much like the recent Gladiator 4K) full-fate native 4K, almost certainly struck from a newly-minted 4K remaster given that the Blu-rays were sourced from mere 2K scans, and looking all the better for it.

The image retains a sharpness and precision that sets new standards for the film, leaving it the best it has ever looked, opening up new pockets of detail through tweaked contrast and that all-too important implementation of HDR and WCG. Facial detail is impressive, with no signs of waxy over-application of noise-reduction, and none of the clean-cut Terminator 2 4K controversy even, retaining (or, more accurately, reapplying) a fine layer of natural grain to lend further texture to the piece. HDR and WCG also allow the reasonably plentiful explosions further range, blossoming out into spectacular highlights, whilst bullets - and sparks - fly with flame-twinged excellence.

From the LA skyline (tequila sunrise orange) to the shiny Nakatomi Plaza, to all the early lens-flare-style shots, Die Hard has simply never looked this good, and with solid blacks that seldom dip into anything which could be mistaken for dark grey rounding out the presentation, it's easily the highlight of the new disc.

So I caved and bought an LG 43UK6470PLC (try saying that three times fast) for £329 from Currys.

Certainly not top of the line, but I'm pleased with it for the price. I can see why people are mad for soundbars nowadays, though. The speakers are a bit shite! :slol:

So that LG B7 I ordered isn't available as it's been oversold.

They've offered me the B8 at the same prices...is that any good?

They are nigh on identical, though the B8 is marginally better overall. The B8 has better motion handling (less image blur), the speakers are better, the stand is different, the plastic is a different colour, the bezel is 0.1cm thinner, input lag when gaming in HDR is a bit higher, peak brightness is a tad less than the B7.

You know my pain.

Loads of people had said "get the B7! It's the best". Took me ages to talk myself into spending money and then they call and say "B7 is gone? B8 for same price?"

Panic!

I just need someone to tell me it's OK (KK's first sentence is enough!)

8 is higher than 7 so it’s obviously better.

You should demand a 9 or 10 though.
