Only drawback is the OS might not be to everyone's taste, but in terms of actual picture quality it's borderline faultless.

Awesome. I don't think I'm too bothered about the OS-most of what I use TV for goes through PS4.

I'm looking for a good 75" at around the £2k mark, is there anything people would reccomend please? Been looking at numerous rating sites and a bit confused by it all if I am honest.

At that price I would look at the Samsung QE82Q70R and QE75Q70R, and Sony Bravia’s KD75XG8505 and KD75XG8796BU. And always shop with a retailer that’s including a 5 year warranty.

For £2,000ish you can genuinely get the best 55” and 65” TVs available (such as LG C9, B9; Sony AG9, A8G; Samsung Q90) whereas at 75” there’s going to be a few compromises as manufacturers are using their mid-range tech at that price point (back-lighting/dimming can be uneven which some people find annoying in dark scenes, blacks become more grey, may not support the latest High Dynamic Range standards like Dolby Vision).

You can never have a big enough tv. The only reason I didn't get a 75" was because the jump to that from the 65 I got was double the price.

65 inch OLED is better than 75 non OLED.

If it's mounted above a fireplace, 40" tops both

A mate of mine went to the effort of wall mounting his tv, and then showed me a picture of it.. encased within one of those Ikea things that have lots of big spaces like a shelf. Absolutely pointless, it may as well just have been sat on it's stand, zero difference, and it's only a small tv so not like it's saving the weight being on it.

Size trumps everything else

Size is dependent on where you put it.

With £2k I'd rather opt for a better set than sheer size.
I'd suggest going for 65 inch and just maybe going a model up from whatever 75 inch set you choose.
If this is going to be used with a console you may want to wait as if the next gen consoles have a 120hz option I'm not sure many TV's now support that but that's if the next gen has that feature and it's only a rumour of what may be supported.

Thanks guys, genuinely that's all really helpful. Beginning to think maybe I should stick with 65" and go for quality over quantity.

Friends given me her Student discount code, so can save 10% on Samsung Tvs but can't see a Q90 on their site so maybe limited to only some models.

Would it be better for me to wait post Christmas? or is it a case that I will always be waiting...

Can't believe how complicated TV manufactures have made it to understand which models are which

I'm planning on buying the 65 inch LG B9 OLED over the weekend. Never bought a TV during BF before, but it's not really been included in any sales so far, so don't know how likely it is to drop somewhere tomorrow. The 55 inch has seen some great price cuts this week, and I've been tempted to just get that instead, but I've saved up for ages for this and I think I'm now firmly set on getting the 65, price drop or not.

Curry's and John Lewis currently have the Samsung Q90 at £2,199, so there's definitely room for them to go lower, but there's no way of knowing when.

LG and Sony's OLEDs offer marginally better picture quality but they can't get as bright so may not be the best option for a brightly lit room, and you may be paying for features you don't need (in Sony's case sound that emanates directly from the screen, or LG's top end model comes with a sound bar attached, neither of which however are as good as a dedicated sound bar or fully fledged sound system). OLED TVs are the ultimate way to watch a movie, and LG's response time for videogaming is superb (better than Sony, though how many people notice is negligible), but there is a small risk of the picture burning into the screen, so not great if you're watching a lot of bold, static graphics for hours at a time.

To be honest, whatever flagship TV you choose from the big 5 (Samsung, LG, Sony, Panasonic and Philips) you're not going to end up with a bad TV. It's the mid and lower ranges where it becomes really complicated, especially as some manufacturers have started doing store-exclusive models making it extremely difficult to compare.

In terms of a roadmap, 2020 and 2021 will see all the manufacturers adopting the latest standards for the PS5 and new Xbox (such as HDMI 2.1, higher framerates, 120Hz, HDR10+/Dolby Vision) and 2022 is when you'll be seeing a lot of 8K TVs (only Samsung has an 'affordable' one out right now).

Went for the Q85 in the end (65 inches) as it didn't seem worth the extra for the Q90.

It's arrived and now I need to figure out how to get the bastard on the wall.
