Why can't TV's just be calibrated at the factory before being sent out to the Shops?

I guess not enough people notice the screen quality of an uncalibrated screen for it to be worth the cost - I'd presume they'd have to add some extra process to the end of the production line that scans the screen while playing demo content and changes the settings accordingly, which would be a large R&D and tooling cost as it would need to be very adaptive to account for what I would image would be a large range of ways the panel's settings could be off. Hell, going by the fact most screen manufacturers now seem to now say the don't consider a 'dead pixel' to be a returnable issue until you have 3 or more I bet they don't want to run the possibility that the screens can't get up to 'calibrated quality', and would rather ship them uncalibrated so the yield rate stays higher.

I think it’s because the store lighting is usually so bright that the TVs are set to max vivid etc so they’ll catch the eyes of people passing by. Once you get it home, the home environment is much less bright.
I’m hoping to upgrade our main tv in the next year. We have a 2014 Samsung curved 65” 4k tv which, whilst great and all, doesn’t have HDR and only has 1x4k HDMI port.
Looking at the LG C1, CX, or G1 at the mo, but do like the Sony which has the sound coming from the screen itself (A90J). Watch a few of the tv review YT Digital Trends videos presented by Caleb Denison and he seems to be knowledgable and informative on loads of things tv related

Hello! In the market for a new 42-ish inch TV that will do us for a couple of years till we buy a house. Main stipulation is that it come with a centralised stand(rather than those flimsy bastard legs that seem to have become the norm) and isn't likely to be knocked over at the drop of the hat because I'm a clumsy bastard. I've had an LG TV for the last thirteen years so my inclination is to stick with them, but does anyone have any recommendations for best TV, lowest price?

I never calibrate my TVs, I usually just turn off all the digital enhancement stuff and use the preset that looks the most natural.

What’s your budget? The LG 43 Nanocell that I got earlier this year has been very good so far, a huge step up from a 10 year old 40 odd inch Sharp set anyway! About £430 on Curry’s.

On the topic of calibration, LG sets do come already professionally calibrated, it’s just not the default profile.
My C9 has two ISF Expert profiles (one for dark rooms, and one for bright), as well as a Technicolour Expert one. RTings has said these are excellent.

The bright room one is what my LG is set on.
Really ought to actually watch something on it.

How is it lossless if it's only delivering upto 80 Mbps? (A 4K UHD BluRay can easily exceed that.) Nice IMAX freebies though.

Picked up a LG OLED55CX5LB today I have only set it up with my Virgin V6 box but pretty impressed with the Euros in UHD from the BBC iPlayer and watched a little bit of the the dark Knight of Sky cinema UHD. Not done any gaming yet but looking forward to it.
Richer sounds did a nice price match with an extra £20 back and LG will send some wireless ear buds out aswell.

LG is working on 4K 120Hz Dolby Vision support for CX and GX TVs. (And BX more than likely.) No love for C9. Update will come in a month or so.

How are you finding the TV after the first week? I'm moving house tomorrow and have ordered the same model a size up to arrive on the weekend, hoping to have it all set up ready for the Wales game on Saturday.

Thinking about it, I'd probably be better off getting a dedicated Freesat box as at least then I'll be able to use my Fire TV Cube to change channels and other things that would otherwise require the remote (currently with the built in terrestrial tuner it'll only let me change the volume and switch the TV on/off, more advanced stuff requires an external box for some reason).
