Being a Sony tv, I'm sure it'll be amazing and the OS will be top notch.

I'm hoping with these new TV announcements the LG OLED C1 has a decent deal over the coming months.

If like me you've still got Google Android TV, then you've probably developed Tourettes, but the current Google TV OS is good. It's not SkyQ or AppleTV quality, but grading on a TV OS curve, it's a vast improvement over what has come before.

Some already pretty decent deals I think. KK is the real master on the subject and can prob advise if any 0f the below are good deals.

Had my eye on the 77" for a while now. The GF made me start a savings account just for the TV as she couldn't come to terms with spending this sort of money on a TV. This is then made worse further as she will then send me links to 70" Sanyo TV's for £600

Yeah I've been keeping an eye on the 65", but I'd ideally only jump if it got less than £1,300 - with the 55" occasionally going to less then a grand I just can't stomach 1.6k - and it has been possible to get it around that level with the Very 20% offer, but I'm in no rush to buy such a TV from them and will wait for Richer Sounds or John Lewis to get to a palatable level before I go for it. I probably just go for the 55" if they don't drop to that level, 65" would be a stupid size for me to get and I'm just being greedy anyway. But it's so very tempting.

How have I missed this thread until now?

Been getting modestly into my home cinema over the past year or so.

Started off with a bog-standard £200 Bomaker 1080p projector onto the wall and hooked up to my stereo system, before shelling out a bit more for a nice 90" screen and capping it off with a Yamaha YHT1840 Surround Sound system.
Had a great time watching movies on it and the surround sound was an absolute game changer as well. A massive leap from the basic stereo sound I'd been content with for decades.

But I'd had my eye on a 4K upgrade to the projector pretty much since I got started. Took a bit of time to get the money together but pulled the trigger just before Christmas and picked up a BenQ TK700STi 4K one. What I hadn't accounted for was that it's a short throw projector, so when I stuck it on the shelf that my current one was on it was far too large for the screen and even at minimum zoom was never going to fit. Which all boiled down to having to get a bigger screen to project it onto. Had to wait a week or two so I could get the bigger screen delivered, but finally got it all set up today and holy strawberry floating gooseberry fool is it impressive. I'd never been particularly blown away by 4K or HDR on any of the TVs or screens I've used. It always looked nice enough but to see it on a 120" screen and properly calibrated is game changing.

Hooked the PS5 up to it and between games looking phenomenal and 4K Blu-Rays I'm never going back.

Even got the wife happy about it which is half the battle.

Anyone else got a projector setup?

strawberry floating hell, somebody talk me down off the ceiling. I just had five minutes where the TV wouldn’t turn on. Had to unplug at the mains so it reset. Frigging terrifying.

I think that's one of those issues LG would cover even if the set were out of its warranty period.

Hope so. But not as much as I hope not to need to find out.

I'm the same. I'm hoping for close to £900 from richer sounds or John Lewis ideally.

Has anyone had an issue with the LG where the image momentarily cuts out? Happens quite a lot with my Sky feed but has happened once or twice with Switch too. Not sure if an issue with HDMI cables, which would be a ballache to fix because they go through the wall

Sounds like a HDMI Handshake issue. Can be caused by really poor quality HDMI cables (such as the ones Sony supplied with PS4 and PS4 Pro) but is more often a case of needing to turn all your equipment off, unplugging the troublesome HDMI cables, and plugging them back in again. And then crossing your fingers. It's an anti-piracy measure that like most anti-piracy schemes ruins the experience of legitimate paying customers.

Lost count the amount of times I've been playing a game and then the screen goes black for 5 seconds. When it comes back you find you've driven the car off a cliff.

When you say unplug HDMI cables, do you mean both ends? This is a bit of a ballache because the TV is mounted

Ideally, yes. But you can just try the TV end first and see if it works.
