I went with Hobbs and Shaw. Dunno when it's out though. Probably November.

BTW, if you're a new customer at Zoom.co.uk (Universal/Sony), they'll also give you 10% off, including pre-orders.

I can't see anything I'd particularly want to buy the 4K version of.

Was going to get Annihilation but it's on Netflix so I didn't bother.

Dunno if this is the right thread, but anyway...

I bought this - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/USB-Type-C-t ... 2749.l2649

It's not working with my Galaxy S8. My TV and HDMI cable is fine, as I'm able to connect my PS4 and laptop with no problem. It won't recognise the phone at all though, and there's nothing wrong with that, or the USB connection.

I mean it's a dodgy lead for a fiver so I shouldn't be surprised right? On the off chance I'm going mad and missing something obvious though I figure I'd post here to see if anybody knew why it might not be working.

And if anybody can recommend an adapter that would actually work (I don't mind paying a bit more) that'd be swell

Have you tried putting your phone into 'developers' mode?

I recently set up my phone to control it via my PC and had to do that to enable data transfer via USB.

I've got something similar. Make sure the dongle has power to it or yoir phone won't use it as an output. Also make sure you have the right connector on the end going in to the phone, as the on I have appears to fit properly but with a similar looking adapter, it then works.

Cheers, will give that a shot.

There's nothing to charge though, it's not a dongle in that way, it's literally just an adapter so I can connect my phone via HDMI. I tried both ways and neither works, but it's USB so both ways should work anyway...

The mad catz one I have requires additional power for some devices. See this really well designed graphic designed by a certain happy forumite to illustrate:

Genius to have the instructions on the back of the box if you ask me 8-)

Without that power going in, my tablet won't work. Come to think of it, I don't think my S7 works at all with it, so perhaps the S8 isn't (check for MHL compatibility).

Help pls.

In the market for a 50" telly, will be purchasing during black Friday but want to get ahead of the game so I know what I'm looking for. Want it to be excellent quality above all else, would like to be able to install apps but not essential as could always use a firestick.

Check out my YouTube channel!
One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

I got one yesterday, ordered up the Blue Planet 2/Planet Earth 2 boxset and then they sent me another one. PM me if interested.

Can't respond to your PM as it seems you have PM receipt disabled. Anyway, the code is ESF3-HDUX4R-84PQBP but it does state you had to use within 7 days of receipt and that was on the 16th so it probably won't work.

8K may not be worth it.

I'm aiming for a 4k TV on Black Friday this year.

Any tips for a first time Black Fridayer? Like hell am I going into a shop; I'll be online. Is it just a case of Googling on the day and seeing what comes out on top?

Just so you know, while the model number may be the same, manufacturers make black Friday specific batches of tvs with cheaper parts in, which is how you get a £1000 tv for £500.

That sounds pretty messed up.

Need to figure out a solid plan of action for this.
