Something interesting: Tetris Effect gave me a HDR settings screen, but Resogun actually caused the set to detect HDR and display the wee HDR logo. IT'S strawberry floating GORGEOUS YO. Literally blinding in places

This reminded that I've not shared my trials and tribulations re getting the boxed TV up to the bedroom and assembling it :slol: Quick version: I almost lost it to the stairs on the 2nd flight. Three or four times. I also almost smashed my bare toes thanks all but dropping the stand on them. I distinctly remember thinking " :!: Well this is going to hurt like a bastard." / "Hmm. How am I going to set this up without being able to walk :?: " Thankfully it landed an inch or two away.

:fp:

It all went straight forward once I sorted the front and back of the stand out. This video helped me figure it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wiiyIzb_Nhc (I was too amped by the new tech to think straight ) Good luck with your install, Milner.

edit: by the way, that video is well worth watching for the moment you see his Mrs. sat on the sofa not looking the least bit impressed

I was just about to post the same! The way the camera pans round to reveal her sitting there haha.

When I set mine up, I saw a video from the same guy, but this is a new one, and even better.

That and the demo video where they’re making all sorts of fancy teas

I've only got a base PS4 but will check it out all the same.

What's this fancy teas video? Honestly, I find I am more open to watching things, both things I like and also stuff I wouldn't otherwise think to watch, now that I have a new TV.

It should be on your TVs internal storage. If you go look at the photos/videos app. It was in the C9s, and I assume it’s in the CX too

The app has all the artificial gooseberry fool on when you first launch it, so you’ll want to make some adjustments

Switch to Store Mode in the settings. It’s dazzling. Especially the honey.

I don't have it  I checked the photos and videos app and all it had pre-installed in there was 4 or 5 scenic photos.

You don’t have this?

I have that app, and it looks just like that except there's no sample video. (Rinks's suggestion gave me something similar though. On CX it's Settings - All settings - General - Additional settings)

This might also help: Home Dashboard is where you switch over to connected consoles, BluRay player, etc:

An even quicker method: click the button in-between Netflix and Prime Video on the remote. (It has a symbol of a wired plug on it.)

Yes, I did spend a good five minutes wondering how I switched over to the PS4 :slol: :fp:

Yeah, that took a while to figure out! There’s an in-menu instruction manual that I still haven’t read yet. I really should.

Even better way of selecting input: hold 0 on the number pad to open the quick access feature. Then you can assign an input (or app) to numbers 1 to 8. For example, I now only have to hold down 4 to start iPlayer. It’s very handy.

I went to order the XH900 and it was sold out! So now im back at looking at the 65 CX.

I will take it as a sign of destiny to go OLED. Will probably pull the trigger next week.

I may have tried a couple of bits :shifty:

Tried some 4k content on Disney+, it’s so good, tried Avengers Endgame and with the sound as well it’s just like being in the cinema!

I can't imagine how much brighter LED TVs are. I honestly thought OLEDs wouldn't be all that bright, but I find myself having to turn the OLED brightness down because at 100, in the right sort of scene, it's like your TV is interrogating you!

Did you go with AI Sound? I really liked how bombastic it sounded and so I left it on.

Yep I kept that on, you can really feel it when the action starts kicking in! It looks like the picture switches to Dolby Atmos cinema or something to that effect when watching a 4k movie (through the Disney app anyway)

Also, it does connect to my IPhone via airplay so I should have no issues streaming content from my phone to the TV :toot:

From what Ive seen instore, the OLED displays look like a living breathing thing compared to LEDs. however you cant really judge on tech demo vids and store settings.

I was also impressed by some Samsungs (Q80)

I only saw them in bright lighted rooms tho, I imagine the OLED at night would look absolutely lovely!

To be fair, my main concern now is that my untrained eye, would appreciate both OLEDs and led/qled in the same manner since my current TV was only capable of doing 1080p
