JChalmers wrote:Well I feel a bit pants. My cat had to spend the whole weekend in hospital after blood tests at the vets showed he was showing strong signs of kidney failure. Thankfully rather than putting him down as advised by the vet, we took him to the hospital and after fluids and antibiotics it appears he’s getting a bit better. They’re waiting on kidney sample results back but they think he’s got Chronic Kidney Disease which means he’s on borrowed time, but changing his diet to special renal food and making sure he get’s blood tests every month will mean his life expectancy will extend by two and a half times.

Only issue now is the £1,000 bill which was meant to be covered by our pet insurance but they’ve rejected the claim so we’re now scrambling around to find money to pay for the bill. Not ideal when you’ve got a mortgage and a kid to think about too. So yeah feel a bit pants and it’s playing on my mind all week, but I’m sure I’ll manage…somehow.

Screw the kid. Focus on the Cat.

It might be hard to empathise given the situation (10k on a holiday is beyond madness to even my middle class English brain) but if Richard can feel better from venting his problems in this thread then I'm happy we can help, y'know? Plus my desk at work still has a kinex goomba on it he sent me one time so consider me successfully bribed ;)

After a year of him bragging about his wealth, followed up with a “I’m poor now, had to let my loyal employee go and I just spent £10,000+ on a holiday!” post, I also feel better that I got to vent.

I can send you a homemade picture of an Amstrad CPC with a “used” Alan Sugar puppet?

I'm glad Richard has somewhere to come and speak about these things to let off some steam.

Sure he was minted but yes things do change and he is human too. I also respect that he realises that a lot of people (I mean hundreds of thousands if not millions of people) have nothing they can do in this situation and for that he deserves a voice. Please don't shut him down.

Who’s shutting him down?

And if he’s dropping at least £10k on a luxury holiday then I’d say he is still minted. And still bragging about it.

nah he isnt bragging; that's just how ricky's always been
it comes off braggy and kinda banana splitish sure but he generally means no harm, especially after like three years of us calling him out on it lol

also tbh for what it's worth I have some sympathy for his situation

I went to a drag show last night (the Pretty Weird tour) and it was amazing, but now I'm feeling exhausted.

Thank you, I really do appreciate it and I was not after any sympathy for my finical situation or any sympathy in general, it will be the biggest change in my life, I have never lived alone before, I have not had a "normal" job for the past 13 years and I am leaving the person I have been with for that time, I have never been out of Europe on my own before or away for that that lent of time on my own, I will be leaving with pretty much nothing just a couple of suitcases, I have not spoken about it before but I have been pretty isolated from friends and family for quite a few years, I put on a good front of everything being great but it has not been, its refreshing being honest about how I am feeling even if its just writing it down on here, I know I will be fine but its going to be a massive shake up, I'm 35 tomorrow and I will be going for the same sort of jobs I had when I was 16, I expect to start at the bottom again due to my age and the fact apart from a few GCSEs I have no formal qualifications, I have been a store manager but that was 13 years ago, this holiday will be the last holiday I have like this for some time but I really do think its the best way for me to move forward and its something to look forward too, I am looking at rental houses/flats now but the market moves quickly so I will make arrangements while I am away, I will be going for extremely cheap properties even bed sit type places with bills included incase I don't find employment straight away, so please forgive any bragging or showing off while I am on holiday as it will be my last last hurrah, I expect I will be uploading pictures pretty much non stop for the whole month in my own thread of course! ;)

It's Ella's birthday today, she's turned 12. I feel so old saying that!

I'm on a Friday night shift, but I've been feeling better these past few days than I have in previous weeks of late.
