I wasn't involved in any sort of plot that had those things in it.
But yeah, I can very easily imagine the what.

It wasn't a group effort, I believe one member described hers and her boyfriend's antics

It got overplayed to death

So I'm back from Tsushimamire, and they were strawberry floating incredible. The raw energy they have on stage is amazing to witness, listening to their albim recordings really doesn't do them justice.

It was kind of a surreal experience, I've never been to such an intimate gig before. There were maybe 50 people in the room, including the bar staff and the band. Before they went on they were just wandering around the club, selling their own merch.

Gutted that I couldn't get my album signed though. They said their tour manager would only let them sign stuff for people with VIP tickets. Of which there were five. Still, getting to meet them face to face was more than enough. :D

No that's Tatsunoko

You're thinking of the Japanese bbq-style marinade

50 people? Ehhh. I was talking to Mari a few weeks ago and she was saying that if the turnout wasn't good then they probably wouldn't be able to come back to the UK again.

Tsuchinoko.

And there's the punchline.

I really do hope they come back despite the shitty turnout though. Everyone there seemed to be a diehard fan who'd been listening for years, they were all super old.

Grain of salt because this is third hand information but apparently Yayoi doesn't like how their fanbase is just a bunch of crusty old otaku dudes who have been fans since Pregnant Fantasy. Given the age (and smell) of their crowds here, I can't blame them. Might explain why she came up and talked to me after the show one time when a bunch of guys were hanging around wearing decade old tour merch and she didn't even look at them. Awesome live show though, glad you got to see them. Was it mostly stuff off NEW?

I can see why she'd feel that way, there was certainly an odd vibe to the crowd. 18 years filters down all but the weirdest of weirdos I suppose.

Setlist was pretty much an even split between New and Abandon Human, with a mix of older ones like Jaguar, Time Lag and Nomisou Shortcake.

Sounds about right on both fronts. It must be difficult when you're this revolutionary super cool girl band who has been on a near constant grind for 20 years and your fanbase is overwhelmingly men.

I saw them play a few weeks ago and it was pretty similar but with stuff like Hajimari no Uta and Matsuri replacing Jaguar and Time Lag. I hope they start playing Giving Blood stuff again.

Oh no doubt, I could've counted maybe 15 women in the room, including the band.

Chicken sandwich party next time though pls

Pretty sure Sex on the Beach is a dead album that will never be performed again. Mari plays Strobo in her solo sets and that’s about it.

It's only just dawned on me that album isn't even on Spotify, I wondered why I hadn't heard it in a while. It's a damn shame, I love that album.

It's probably because that record had a western release on Good Charamel Records, unlike all the other albums. The good news is that it's dirt cheap to get a used copy of the US version on Amazon or whatever, and you don't need to worry about the big delivery costs that usually come with buying japanese stuff. It's one of my least favourite of their albums though.

Ah, Umi Da > Giving Blood > S/T > NEW > Shocking > Ningen Houki > Sex on the Beach > Pregnant Fantasy

Actually, the lady who owns Benten label (who released the first album) added me on facebook the other day. That was neat, I don't know her.
