So I'm on a farm. Many people go to it as Wwoofers (working holidays) but I'm here for a more long term basis. Anyways everyone I was friends with on the farm are gone back to their home countries now as their holidays are over; it's just the farmer and her daughter left now, both of whom are almost always away from the farm, running errands. So most of the time I'm on my own. Without a working bike, accessible transport (the nearest bus is a three hour walk away) and not having enough free time to go to a part of the country where my friends and family live can get pretty darn lonely. I haven't even left this farm since Tuesday, and that was just for a short errand, not to meet anyone. There's only so much social interaction you can get via a computer screen/WhatsApp etc. I know it sounds petty but loneliness is not a nice feeling. Loneliness has the power to kill if someone's not strong enough. I've been able to spend my free time binging Netflix (that 70s show) and getting better acquainted to the 2D Zelda games, but at the moment life is work work work or play a bunch of videogames/watch some TV while in bed. Might sound like a dream but without the right forms of social interaction it gets rough. So that's how I'm feeling right now but hope all of you guys are feeling better. Only a month til Halloween (and Luigi's Mansion 3).

EDIT: Oops, I misread your post, sorry. I was going to suggest getting the bus to town but I guess that's not an option!

The farm you're on sounds very isolated, I can see how that would take a toll on you! I hope you manage to sort something out so you can at least get out and about.

I am feeling good. Most of this month I have been out of the country with work, and today they have me jetting off to work in the most exotic location yet.

Scotland.

Loneliness isn't petty LightWanderer, feel free to vent if you need to. How long are you planning on staying at the farm for?

That doesn't sound good, LightWanderer. Is there not other people that might be coming along soon? And as Karl said, that does sound like a very isolated place to be in, so if it does start to wear more on you, I'd consider whether staying is a good idea - even if you enjoy the work.

I plan to be here til at least Christmas but in the new year I'll have enough money to think about leaving. Then again I should have a bicycle by then so hopefully that will lessen the isolation, as I'll be able to go places easier.

Be sure to take something sharp with you as you'll need it to scrape the moss off your jacket. ;)
