Got >>these<< in the post today and I've ordered >>these<<.

Am I a little crazy for spending close to £150 on headphones in one month?

To keep discussion going;

What headphones do you use? Which ones would you recommend? Are there any you want but can't justify the cost?

Jesus. I'd never spend more than €50, tops, on a pair of headphones. What can yours do that the ones I got a hundred quid cheaper can't?

Snap. I got them free with my laptop. They do the job.

I still use the headphones that came with my iPod. They work fine so I see no need to change them.

The main reason I got them was because they have surround sound but also work with my 360, bit awkward to use a 360 headset and headphones, those mix both together, not just physically but the audio is mixed aswell.

EDIT:

The first ones are a replacement for my ones of those, the rubber peeled off of mine.

You're aware that surround headphones are basically a scam right? A good pair of stereo headphones (ie under £50) can pull it off just as effectively.

You can't go wrong with Sennheiser and spending £130 on any pair of headphones is ridiculous.

I spend a lot of money on audio equipment, especially headphones. The more you spend, the longer they last, and the expensive ones can sometimes be a helluva lot better than the majority of home speaker set ups.

I'm using the ones that came with my MP3 player. They work fine so I see no reason to buy a new pair.

How much?!

I believe I spent about £5.99 on the headphones I wear at the gym. It's great, as I can hear what the characters are saying in Heroes! Don't think I'll be spending twenty times that though to hear 'em a bit clearer!

Hold on, how does surround sound work on headphones anyway?

Just have more than one speaker in each ear lobe.

I spent £45 on a truly excellent pair of Sennheisers; recommended by PC Gamer et al. No need to spend more, and wireless headphones basically nullify any money you've spent on your amp too  .

Jeez, I baulked at paying £20 for a pair of noise-reducing earphones for my portable stuff.

I do have a fairly decent pair of SennHeiser wireless headphones at home though. They're great, cost me about £40 and have that pseudo-surround sound thing. It actually works really well.

You should get a set of headphones included when you buy a 360

The more you spend, the more likely that the company who produces them uses a higher quality of material, due to the higher demand in that material facilitating a rise in price, therefore rising production costs, which translates to a higher baseline for the retail industry to add on its profit margin and sell it to the end user. Often, this results in a higher price, so long as the profit margin is similar across the board for cheap and expensive products.

However, you do have to sensibly take into account factors such as limited stock, novelty and excess features, as well as the quality of the working environment and inflation. Buying in a different context may well result in a far less elevated price for the same product, or better, thus negating the hypothesis of "The more you spend, the longer they last", however the correlation does exist in part.

I had a pair of these http://tinyurl.com/6hsym4 until someone stood on the jack-point and they no longer work :(

They made me look a little like a world war fighter pilot, but sounded great.
