Because it's nice to play this with other people? There you go, a really really simple answer.

I've got it on ps4 and my phone and I'm still thinking I need to buy it again now I've got a switch. To me that is the platform it is made for.

I might wait to see if the above patch will come out on switch before I buy it though.

The key thing to remember is that there no rush to get anything done, there's no right way to play either. Allow yourself to find your feet and get used what the game has to offer, then start experimenting and see what works for you!

I havent streamed it for a while but when I do again you should pop on and take a look at what I've been doing! Might give you come inspiration!

Thanks, I have been enjoying it, really starting to feel that one more go aspect of it now. Ive gotten into the mine and the community center so Im progressing with stuff there while tending to a couple of different crops. Not really engaged with the townsfolk in any real way yet, still finding my feet with everything. Thoroughly enjoying it, shouldnt have waited for this long to pick it up.

Im now halway through Summer of year 2 and it is utterly magnificent. Its got a real one more day appeal to it. Even now Im sitting here at work and I cant wait to get home cos I have a crop about ready for harvesting and the luau is coming up again and I need to do some more fishing. Im nearly done with the Community Centre stuff, have 4 more items to get and the whole thing is done, no idea if thats the end of the game or what happens but I cant wait to find out. I also get the feeling theres a lot more to that wizard guy that first appears so I think I should put in a bit of time there to get to know him a bit better.

Once you complete the community centre the game just carries on as normal.

I haven't actually completed it myself yet, in spite of playing 250 hours over three separate farms, I've only just bothered building a stable which I wish I had done sooner as travelling by horse is so much quicker.

I keep thinking about getting a horse but Im never usually in that much of a rush to get places and I can put the resources needed for it to better use elsewhere I reckon. Cant wait for the luau tonight, hopefully Ill get my deluxe coop built as well. :datass:

Having discovered the best item to use at the luau I tend to skip it until I have one in my inventory/storage chests.

In fact, I skip most events in year 1 unless its one you get something from like the egg festival (strawberry seeds) or the autumn pumpkin festival (golden pumpkin).

I got my deluxe coop, and I got the stable after all, its cool being able to move faster but I sometimes forget to take the horse ( :fp: ) so its not really game chaning for me. I do have the greenhouse now though so my wine farm is starting production! :datass:

Been playing through this a lot recently with the gf (though not co op since we've only got 1 copy of the game downloaded onto 2 switchs lol), and it's pretty damn good for showing off something new and interesting to you just as you're running out of things to do. There's so much to do and it's paced pretty nicely. Not sure what goes for spoilers here, but here's general progress...

Winter Year 2 - 2 deluxe barns and almost 2 deluxe coops, stable, slime hutch, self-made outdoors slime hutch, finished the community centre, unlocked the wizard's construction shop, married abigail and got a baby girl, upgraded everything to Iridium, upgraded the house with cellar, about to hatch my first dinosaur egg, Pam's house is being built, bought the furniture catalogues from Pierre's and Robin's, lvl 10 in everything, finished the mines, reached level 50+ in skull caverns (though I've heard it doesn't end)... What else... there's so much in this game lol.

All in all it's pretty damn good. I think New Horizons could fail in comparison, but we'll see. There are quite a few bugs and technical oddities in the game though, but it doesn't detract too much from the game thankfully. Looking forward to reading this thread and seeing how everyone else got on with the game, though I want to avoid spoilers for now.

you got a lot done by the end of year two than I ever did. has been a while since I have played this, but I am hopeful of getting some Nintendo eshop points for Christmas, and if I do I will be spending some of stardew. would be nice to have it on the switch.

As I'm away with family I decided to get this on my iPad even though I already have it on PC. It was only a fiver so why not. It works really well with touch controls. Shame the update isn't due until Jan.

Coming up to Winter 3, still enjoying it, but more so for the relaxing part of designing my farm just how I want it. Starting to feel like a bit of a slog though, finding myself going to skull caverns a lot just cause it feels like that's my best way of maximising profits to get the things I want.

There's still a few things that look like I could interact with them in some way, and things from the trailer I've yet to see too, and I'm just wondering how does one figure out how to do these things in-game? I've unfortunately already spoiled myself a little when looking things up for things I already knew about but forgot (like sell prices), and catching a glimpse of something I didn't know, but my usual stance for those kinds of things is even though I know, I won't do it until I know in-game. I.e. Until something in-game gives me some kind of hint of what something is or is meant to be or do, then I'll be like 'ah that makes sense, I'll do that now'. But I've seen a few things now that I'm just not seeing any kind of hint for in-game, so I'm just a little perplexed as to how players are meant to figure out certain parts of the game. Unless I really just haven't progressed enough yet, Idk. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
