I have Hitman 3 now, so far played the first four levels. They really mixed things up this time with the mission setups, it's cool! I am wondering when I am ever going to unlock a sniper rifle though so I can start trying for sniper assassin as I always enjoy that.

The persistent unlockable shortcuts are an interesting new mechanic, I like them. Not so sold on the phone, but then I think that's because some of the challenge photos seem quite finicky to trigger.

Aside from Chongqing and Dartmoor, I've barely used the phone. The best sniper rifle in the game is unlockable via the below. If you've got the Hitman 1 levels in Hitman 3, the Marrakesh escalation is the vastly quicker way.

Marrakesh: Complete all three levels in The Cheveyo Calibration Escalation contract
Chongqing: Reach Mastery Level 20 overall

I don't have the previous game levels - I have Hitman 1 on disc on PS4, Hitman 2 digitally on PS4 (but it's my girlfriend's PSN account that owns it) and Hitman 3 on disc on PS5. I've no idea how to get the levels unlocked, or even if I can, because the whole thing is a bit of a mess!

I deliberately didn't want to carry over my Hitman 2 progress (I also didn't carry over Hitman 1 to Hitman 2) because I think having everything unlocked from the start lessens the experience of going into the levels without many options. Once I have the lockpick for example (which I now have) it just makes things so much easier to always start with it. But yeah, I think I had a sniper rifle unlocked quicker in the earlier games.

Good to know it's from Chongqing mastery though, that's the level I'm playing at the moment (I've actually only done one run of it).

Apparently it's possible to silent assassin the new elusive target in 9 seconds:

What is it with these elusive targets being within arms reach of at least one starting location? I guess it can't be helped, and it's not like most are putting in the massive effort to study the location, target, and exits to pull that off, but still.

Presumably people are able to replay elusive targets in order to get a 9s speedrun down, which begs the question, how are they replaying elusive targets?

It's technically not replaying them if you don't do anything that stops you restarting while in one. Can take all the time in the world to assess what needs to be done on one account, then go for the speedrun on another. Or... someone else has reported where the target can be found beforehand, which lessens the need to assess the situation somewhat.

This is a very easy elusive if you can find your way to him. I hung around by the chemical toilets, shot him with the emetic dart gun and he wandered directly over to me without his guards. Easy drowning kill.

Just decided to go with the loud and proud route again. Found the target, threw the rubber duck into the crowd, ran away and hit the detonator. Had to make another risky disguise change right in front of a crowd, but got away without taking a hit.

Finished the last story mission last night, so now I'll be going back for mastery/challenges as I'm only about 12/20 on every level near enough.

I've really enjoyed how they've mixed things up for the third game. Especially on the first playthrough pretty much every level has some significant differentiation from a "regular" Hitman level that you'd find in the first two games. They tend to get more normal on subsequent plays (e.g. Dartmoor if you ignore the murder-mystery, Chongqing as the data core becomes optional) although it doesn't work quite so well in Berlin which, while still fun, I think loses something important once you know who all the targets are. The final level is very far from normal, even on subsequent playthroughs, but I had great fun with three very different runs at it last night - getting suit only silent assassin was pretty cool as I was abusing flash stuns in a way I never have needed to before!

There still isn't a bad level in there, the quality of the whole trilogy has been crazily good. Now I just need to unlock a sniper rifle which I still somehow haven't done! (I did get sniper assassin on Mendoza already though - the attic is cheat mode as no one else can get up there)

I got the platinum last night, which I haven't done on the previous games in the trilogy. There are still a fair number challenges - feats especially - that I haven't done on each level but they definitely feel well trodden now having hit mastery 20 on all of them and having run through (some more competently than others) all of the escalations.

I feel like escalations have never quite lived up to the standard set by the initial training escalations unfortunately. Some try their own gimmick, like the knife target throwing in Dubai, but my favourite escalation design is the 5 levels of one-more-thing that those training escalations do really well.

But anyway, a great conclusion to the trilogy, taken as a whole the games are fantastic. I wish there were more games out there like them.

Some escalations do seem tame compared to others, but I guess it's nice to have variety with them.

I loaded it up a few days back just to mess around in. Never even realised a new one had gone live. Story in the spoilers.

I spent an age looking around for them, first by sneaking into the mansion. Saw nothing out of the ordinary there, and had considered going deeper, but felt I'd only do that as a last resort. Managed to sneak back out again to check the back alleyways of the town. As soon as I got there, out they appeared. I followed them around a bit to mark where they'd go, then hit the restart. Even with the knowledge, I never saw many openings, and I couldn't use the explosive duck just in case it hurt the one you're not meant to hit and failed me. Replanned to get my emetic dart gun out, hit the guy, then followed him to the toilets. The guards followed me inside! Rather than restart, I punched them out as best as I could, then got the target. Not exactly clean, but it got the job done.

I emetic dosed the target and it was just me and him in the bathroom. Though I did bump into him a few times to separate him from the rest of the pack. Weirdly it didn't seem like he had his own bodyguard. They all walked off without him, giving me time to drug him.

Yeah, I was quite surprised and confused when following him all the way to that bathroom in the tunnel alone to suddenly have two bodyguards show up. Did think about restarting to see if it happened again, but that would have meant a whole lot more waiting for them to show up.

Another emetic and drowning elusive target for me. I'll try and mix it up next time.

Mine was a complete lucky fluke. When I eventually found him (by complete fluke), I followed to somewhere I felt would be good to take him down, then reset.
Having first taken a bottle of alcohol from the bar I started at for luck, I waited nearby to where I had originally encountered him, then watched the group go down to the cinema. Out the front entrance, down a level, I sat at the bench he would soon want to sit at and waited. After a bit of funny buggers where the AI would make me get up so he could sit down but then he would get aggitated I bumped into him so stayed standing three times over, I ran over to the pool of water, chucked my alcohol at him, then intended to drag him into that pool to dump him in it - completely forgetting you can't do that. So instead I had to snap his neck and dive into the vineyard. It was a lucky fluke since people had seen me do all that - including the guard halfway up the stairs by the area, but I wasn't being shot at. No-one, it seemed, cared.

Lethal syringe over here.

Unlocked myself a couple of nice variations of the classic suit. One with gloves and another with a fancy looking overcoat. :datass:
