If they do that, then each individual mission will cost you more than getting them all in one package, surely?

Yeah, rightly so too.

Whilst this does look like a step in the right direction (and thankfully a step away from absolution) I'm still cautious about how the end product will turn out. The "super soldiers" that can spot you seem like they might brake the game for me. I liked in Blood Money how disguises just worked.

Time will tell. Oh, and they strawberry floating better bring back the sniper briefcase.

Delayed until March 11th plus an adaptive pricing approach.

I don't understand this release model at all. If it was trickled out over 6 months then maybe I could understand. Why not just release everything in April and give everybody the full game if there's only gonna be a month between them?

Yeah this release module is complete, utter bullshit. Previews actually make the game sound good but I'm not trusting any strawberry floater after the last game. I'll wait to see what real fans think of it.

Also "let me try it out for just 35 dollars"

That release model is completely unnecessary, just put out a full game and count on it selling well by making it good. If you're set on an option for people to "try it out", release a demo of just one level for Christ's sake. I imagine the average customer looking at something like that and thinking sod it, looks dodgy.

I'm actually somewhat interested in this game based on some impressions but I already know I'm not going to buy it until at least a year after it's out because I want to know I'm getting the full package immediately when I do.

They've changed the release model again. :fp: They have no idea how to approach this game's release!

A change to the release structure, sees HITMAN become a truly episodic AAA game experience, with a major live component. Where players will perform contract hits on powerful, high-profile targets in exotic locations around the world.

Starting with a Prologue Mission and a Paris location on March 11th, followed by the next location, set in Italy releasing in April and then Morocco releasing in May. From there HITMAN will deliver regular monthly content updates, including three additional locations; Thailand, the US and Japan until the season concludes in Japan later in 2016. With weekly live events and additional planned content in between the monthly updates.

“We decided to take the full leap and publish HITMAN as a truly episodic game experience,” said Hannes Seifert, Head of Studio at Io-Interactive. “Part of that decision is for that little bit of extra time to ensure every location we release is at the quality level fitting for a HITMAN game. But the main driving reason is that this will allow us to create a living game that will expand and evolve over time and establish a foundation for the future – this is the first game in a storyline which will continue and expand with future Hitman games.”

A new Intro Pack now contains Prologue and Paris levels and will release at the new price of $15 (or local equivalent). Each subsequent location will be priced at $10 as an add-on item to the Intro Pack*. Alternatively, players can buy the Full Experience up front for $60. This includes all of this year’s content as it’s released, and guarantees them not to miss any live or bonus content.

The disc version of HITMAN will ship at the end of 2016.

The "release structure" of this game was always confusing and now they're changing it again? What on earth is a "major live component"? But... ah! Hang on! This is the worthwhile bit:

...The disc version of HITMAN will ship at the end of 2016.

So, yeah, wait until they've finished the game and then buy it.

Bet the 'full package' goes on sale on the digital stores before all the episodes are even out.

I was really excited about this game, but now I am not so sure I am going to bother until the full game is out.

Hitman's hand-wringing devs wrote:"It's not a decision we've taken lightly and we fully acknowledge that the decision may frustrate some players,"

To me that translates as "Some of you will get buttmad about it on the internet, but our projections indicate enough of you will be stupid enough to fall for it and we'll make bank, so we don't give a gooseberry fool about those people."

What an awful shitty business practice. Suck my balls Square Enix. I'll buy it when it's dirt cheap, like £10 to £15 sort of cheap.

Square said a year ago that episodic gaming was coming from there after Life is Strange:

“When compared with our action games or our mobile games, we realize the challenge of marketing. When we look at the episodic gaming market, it is clear that Telltale is far ahead of all other studios, but we think we have managed to establish their position with Life is Strange and this will certainly have an impact on our internal teams.”

So Hitman and Final Fantasy VII are the first big games to go episodic. I hope Deus Ex isn't going that way.
