This is first Hitman game (via Boomerang) I went through the training level an exclusive party on a ship which was also an Agent 47 training mission from his past. Then begun to wonder why there was a curtain all around it, I figured it was a ship in a dock being repaired or something. During my mission I knocked a chef out by throwing a weapon at his head. I completed the mission. Went back to replay it and saw the chef with a bandage around his head, from the last time I threw something at him... Then it dawned on me, the ship isn't real, the people are all actors! And it's making me ask so many questions, like do real secret agents have training like that, what are the actors told and what if I killed one of the actors?

I'm pretty sure the opening of that training level is supposed to make it clear it's not real

I didn't know about the bandage thing though, that's a very cool detail!

Reminds me of one of the lines from Consolevania's Driver 3 review way back in the day:

"I had to go on a mission where I had to prove myself to gangsters and I had to run about on an assault course and kill guys. Who volunteers for that job?!"

New content coming this month.

An elusive contract coming just a month after release. At a favourite location of mine, as well. Never been able to experience an elusive contract before, so it should be fun to try out.

Personally I'd prefer the elusive targets to just stay available as a list to work through. I've never really liked the fact that once they're gone, they're gone. Glad to see there are plenty of escalation missions on the way and looking forward to unlocking those classic H2SA costumes.

They do repeat elusive targets at least once. This target in a few weeks was released on Hitman 2 originally and is a combination of two separate Hitman 1 targets.

The elusive targets are rubbish, a perfectly anxiety inducing combination of limited time content and a one-shot attempt. I've missed the vast majority and ignored the rest just for peace of mind. I've bought the game(s), let me engage with the content on my own terms. It's not a competitive sport and I don't want to treat it like one. The design of the game otherwise is all about a freedom of repeating levels and challenges to experience them fully, the elusive targets just seem antithetical to that.

I think that's why the elusive targets work. They're the final exam to test your knowledge of the levels you've been replaying repeatedly.

That argument could hold if they were only one-shot, but why also make them limited time? If they are meant as a "final exam" then why not have them unlock once you reach full mastery of a level instead of some arbitrary real-time window that won't align with anyone not playing the game from release.

Even then I wouldn't like them being "one-shot" because if I failed one I would absolutely want to try it again

If they weren't one shot and limited time how would they be any different from just regular targets?

Maybe they could put them on a time based cool down? It does seem crazy (as an outside to the franchise) that even if they reintroduce them you don’t get a second crack at the target. I get (and respect) the idea of it being high pressure, but that’s a bit much for my anxiety.

Replaying the Dartmoor several times. Fantastic level. The design is top notch.

I really need to crack on to the next level.

The sniper side missions challenge is excellent. My favourite has to be the wedding at a grand hotel.

I'm making my way through Hitman 1 and plan to begin 2 and 3 straight after. But should I exhaust all the extra missions/DLC in the Hitman 1 maps before moving to 2? Is it worth it?

They are good fun but you could be playing the game for a long time if you try and exhaust everything before moving on, I wouldn't feel any obligation to do it. Maybe play a few until you get itchy for a new map then move on, you can always go back!

Patient Zero is a great campaign so play that. I'm lukewarm about the other remixed levels but do the The Cheveyo Calibration escalation as it unlocks the best sniper rifle in the game.

I'd say to just play it however feels right.

I've finished the 3rd campaign now but I spent a lot of time replaying previous levels before I actually continued the story. Some days I just really fancy playing one level over another or feel like going for escalations rather than the proper hits. Just play whatever you feel like at the time and you will get so much more out of it that way.

Cheers, everyone. I think I'll run through the main missions from 1-3 and try side missions etc for particular levels that I like.

Do the sniper challenges if you can.

The Patient Zero stuff is a fun new spin on some of the existing levels.
