I have been leaving my switch at my fiancee's turns out I wasn't at 30hours, I was at 28:35 or some such. I'm there right now and just finished it with the screen saying 73percent in 28hours and 43minutes.. I know there's more I didn't do

I didn't have my nail powered up to max and I didn't have the ability to pass through the black energy fog barrier things

I will probably play more at some point as I feel this is currently my game of the year.

That's great, thanks! I swear I've looked for entrances from those rooms already but I guess I wasn't thorough enough.

it was the same for me, its a tough but it was so satisfying to get in there in the end

I am really enjoying this game, but the strawberry floating Soul Master is driving me insane. I just can’t beat the strawberry floater and I think I need to beat him before I can get any further.

Any tips?

One tip is that there is a shortcut to the Soul Master you can use, I can't remember where it is off the top of my head but try googling it if you can't find it. It makes repeated attempts less frustrating.

Have you levelled up your nail with the nailsmith? That's worth doing at least once before fighting him. It's also worth trying different charm combinations depending on what you have available and what you're struggling with. For example are you struggling to find time to heal? Either use charms to speed up healing and protect you while you do so, or charms to increase your total health so that you can take more damage and avoid having to heal.

Cheers. I am having to travel quite a long way from the nearest bench, I’ll check out any possible shortcuts.

My nail has been upgraded and I have an extra two dots of health from a charm. A speed up to healing would be good, I’ll see if I’ve got anything.

Thinking about the fight itself, I'd just focus on getting one hit on the boss at a time before getting away and avoiding attacks. The main time to attack is when he teleports in and fires one projectile, you should be able to get a hit in before dodging the attack. The attack where he has a ring of 4 projectiles is probably the best time to get away and try and heal if needed, even if you take one hit you hopefully should have enough time to heal twice. When he appears above the ground for a smash don't even try to hit him, just dash away and remember to jump over the shockwave.

If you're still struggling then taking a break and exploring somewhere else for awhile can be helpful, are you sure you've been everywhere else available to you? Have you purchased the lantern from the shop in Dirtmouth? That could lead to some new areas to go to if you haven't done so already.

Cheers, I have the lantern and have explored other areas but don't think I have anywhere else to go or anything else to buy other than beating the Soul Master.

I think your advice on just going for the one hit is my best bet. I am way to eager on just running towards him and hitting as many times as possible, which is killing me. I need to be more zen and chilled out!

That above made me wonder if I had done everything and then I realised I hadn't bought any extra notches for a while. I didn't have enough charms to buy extra notches and so tracked down the storeroom key, bought more charms and then ran out of geo so had to wander around killing and collecting. Finally got enough to purchase another notch and decided I ought to spend some time with the family before bed.

Sounds like I am moaning, but it is fun! And the Soul Master is getting the gooseberry fool beat out of him this weekend. :x

It really is a great game, one of the best I've played in years. It nails the gameplay and exploration, while also building the world's history and atmosphere. The characters were all great too, the Stag was my favourite but I also loved the little grubs you save throughout.

I think the Soul Master is a place where a lot of players get stuck. If I remember correctly once you beat him the game opens up even further, so even if you get stuck on another boss you should almost always have somewhere else to go and explore.

Are you not saving them? I haven't played the game for a couple of weeks but I found the last of them in my last session, have I missed something?

I don't like the sound of this.

Then, afterwards, read about what's actually (probably) happening and realise it's not as bad as it looks.

Those poor grubs :( I'm choosing to believe the metamorphosis theory for my own peace of mind.
