Do you have Void Heart?

Don’t think so. Is it a charm?

Two halves of a charm which doesn't take up any slots. Would guess that most people wouldn't get it pre-final boss without a guide. In order to get the 'true'/'good' ending, you need the Void Heart.

Ah, right. No, but I’ve got another two-part charm. I’ve managed to get to 97% without referring to any guide, but (because of the achievements) I’m aware that there’s more beyond 100%, so I expect I’ll need to look up the last few things at the end. My plan now is to finish the arena, then head for Hollow Knight.

We're talking about the same thing. Once you get the void heart you can no longer get the first ending.

FWIW I don't think you need a guide for it at all. The game makes it obvious there is important stuff there to find.

OK, I’m a bit confused now. I got the two charm halves from Traitor Lord and The White Palace. Difficult to get, but not hidden. But it’s not called void heart, and it is listed among the regular charms and uses four or five slots when equipped.

Anyway, at risk of spoiling anything for myself, I’ll stay away from here until I’ve done a certain thing.

OK, first ending achieved. 99%, 79h 20m. Became the vessel. That’s the right ending to get first, I hope!

Haha, yes, I take my maps and note-taking very seriously! I’m all about the exploration, and it’s paid off by not having to resort to a guide (though you guys have saved my sanity in a few moments of doubt). Special thanks to SoK for prompting me to start the game, and providing inspiration along the way.

:) I'm glad my tweets had a small hand in your playing such an amazing game.

Decided to return to this today for a bit since I haven't finished everything (only at 108%). Unfortunately it seems I've gotten a little rusty. Trying to do the God DLC is pretty tricky, so instead decided to warm up by doing the Path of Pain.

Unfortunately I did use a guide to find where it was, but here's my experience with it: Holy strawberry float, the Path of Pain was so so fun. It felt so good to get back into Hollow Knight this way. It was a tad easier than I thought it would be from what I had heard, clearing some sections on the first attempt. Overall I found the hardest section, rightly so, to be the final one. Was surprised by the fight at the end and clutched it out with 1 health left. If you die here do you have to retry the entire Path of Pain? But anyway, the reward was pretty sweet, seeing the Hollow Knight and King together (hoping I've got that right lel), and getting a mark to prove completion.

So I'm probably gonna use a guide to find the remaining 3 charms. Before I stopped playing I must have spent multiple hours just wandering around and doing nothing trying to find them. With the God DLC, I probably won't bother trying to finish everything there with handicaps/all the hard mode bosses in that underground bit either. Just no time for it. Think I'd just be happy finishing the main story I guess of the DLC and fighting the new bosses.

Yeah, the Godseeker stuff seems pretty challenging. I have a feeling I might stall there too. It’s the exploration of the world that I loved, so pure boss action might lose my interest.

I’ve been doing the Grimm Troupe content this week. Good stuff, but I still have the final boss to beat.

Currently 106%.

So I’ve been trying my hand at Hollow Knight again, started a fresh game (as I had no clue where I was in my previous one, about 5 hours in?). I’m currently up to the Soul Master :fp: he’s providing to be a major annoyance with how relatively far away the bench is and the annoying teleporting enemies that seem to appear in front of you, I’ve nearly got the boss beat (I think) but it’s going to take me a few more tries at least :(

Still made it further than in my first attempt though, going to try and persevere and not give up on it this time

Yes, that's one of the more annoying bench-to-boss runs. Have you found the secret area full of the the slug-like mobs and ghosts? It's just before you get to the area which leads to the boss. I found it a great help in replenishing HP lost on the journey back to Soul Master.

There are plenty of opportunities to heal during the boss, let alone before the boss. You can literally just run past all the enemies on the way anyway

Yeah I try to avoid getting hit at all though, it’s a good bit just in case though. Going to try equipping the charm which makes you invulnerable for a bit longer after getting hit next time I try it.

I mainly run past the enemies, just annoying when you think you’ve made a jump for one of those teleporting ones to appear and hit you mid air.

Edit, equipping that charm did the trick, Soul Master is no more thank goodness!

Hmmm, I seem to be properly stuck in Crystal Peak, can’t jump high enough to get out of the exits back into the Forgotten Crossroads, not got a light to help with the dark sections either. I’ll keep wondering for now.

On a plus I found the shopkeepers key? Take it Sly needs that back in Dirtmouth?

Edit, found someone I’ve not been before, hopefully this is the right way! Thankfully it was! Now I can fly, kind of.

Played a bit more of this. Unfortunately I used a guide to find the last charm. It was just a breakable wall in Crystal Peak, so, I doubt I ever would have found it anyway.

Also beat The White Defender (also found with a guide since I didn't even know it was a thing lol). Beat him 5 times to get that juicy dung Knight.

Gonna finish up the God DLC at some point and then probably replay the game in steel mode to try finish those quests and also alternative routes like with Grimm Troupe.

Also I noticed you can actually save the game at any time and don't actually need a bench which kinda really sucks...

I’ve not even thought about delving into the DLC they did for this, after my hatred of the Watcher Knights (and then beating the Hollow Knight) I was ready to put this down for a while. I did absolutely love every minute of it though (except the aforementioned Watcher Knights), to the extent where Bloodstained just isn’t doing it for me currently (may well be in part down to its performance on the Switch mind).
