That's fair to say. It was definitely very awkwardly done.

I finished the main quest this morning but I started skipping all the cutscenes and dialogue and probably saved myself a good few hours doing so.

Absolutely love the exploration and world but the story didn't interest me at all. So an Assassin's Creed game really.

Really did enjoy it though. Don't want to sound like I hated it.

My Mrs has just started playing this. The graphics are absolutely insane.

Finished this today. I unlocked the arena and went through each challenge. Unlocked a legendary outfit, 2 legendary bows and a legendary fast gun thing. Made the rest of the game much easier.

Started to get very bored towards the end, the story is poor compared to the first and the Ubisoft open world icon mess really felt overwhelming.

Combat is still good fun, graphics, sound and design all great. But it hasn't done enough to make me excited for part 3 or any dlc.

I'll probably return to to it one day to upgrade some stuff and get a better throwable spear.

Wish my image sig would work

The release of the Horizon Forbidden West Official Strategy Guide, priced at around £32-37, has been pushed back until the 2nd May. Commercially that sounds like a right balls-up.

I've been playing this for a week or 2 now.

As I've been exploring quite extensively I'm not particularly far into the story, having only reached Plainsong yesterday.

For the most part I'm enjoying it. It's stunning to look at and I enjoy the combat with the machines and targeting the components. However there is a fair bit I'm not so keen on such as the clunky traversal, particularly the platforming in the cauldrons, and the story is already losing my interest.

It's more Horizon with improvements but nothing particularly revolutionary, which is a mild disappointment even though I still think it's a good game.

I'm curious to see how it develops and to see if I get more into it or begin growing tired of it, but so far it's feeling like a solid 8/10.

Can I just double triple check before I pony up for this - if I buy the PS4 disc and throw it into my PS5, then…I’ll be playing the PS5 version, I’ll have saved a tenner or so?

Yes that's right. It's got a free upgrade for PS5.

 welcome.

I'm sure you know this already. Just make sure you're playing the right version. See the three dots and select the PS5 version like some other games already had it.

This is currently £44.99 for the PS4 version on Amazon at the moment, quite tempting!

Trying to get back to this post Elden Ring but it all feels a bit...meh after that.

For anyone who finished what level were you at? Curious how far I have to go

I'm in the exact same boat and was tempted to start again from scratch as I forgot some of the mechanics, but I just fast traveled back to some "old" location and doing a bit of exploring here and there before I carry on with the story. Not that I was too far in to be fair, but I remember there were some dragging quests at the beginning which I didn't want to do again.

The game still looks beautiful though.

I kind of felt the plot to this should have been split over 2 games with the finale being the very end of the story for Slot (and that silly AI thing at the end not happening)

You could have had the objective for this game being rebuilding GAIA with the mutated form of you know who as the final boss thing. It then ends with the Zenith's landing and a to be continued.

They could have then maybe opened up the idea of the ocean a bit more for the third game, having it as some sort of play on Wind Waker.

And done (platiniumed) - enjoyed my time with but glad it's over.

Definitely needs to learn "less is more" in terms of side quests/collectables/errands/McGuffins. (The fact the trophies need about 1 of each rather than all suggests they know this)

The amount of weapons, armours and pouches all with upgrades is insane. The variety of upgrade materials is too wide as well, and often RNG related (e.g. I've killed about 8 Slitherfangs and got 1 drop of item I need, and no not key component :P). There's too much choice and all a bit inconsequential. You don't need that sort of variety.
The combat loops remain largely the same throughout - I barely upgraded anything other than pouches, and I didn't feel to hard done by. It would be another 10 hours or so of farming to upgrade gear in the same combat loop.

Coupled with the skill tress and Valor stuff. The perk trees upgrading you maybe ok, but all the various abilities and Valor I never really explored other than ones I identified that worked.

I'm not sure about the plot - it goes places you really don't expect from the start, but also it also ends up being pretty much all about set up for the next game - and this plot never quite comes together (the heroic charge in the finale come closes but just don't hit the high it should). Same as Alloy - I can't put my finger on it but she's not just as likeable in this. Having said that the base and the interactions therein are a good edition.

So yeah enjoyed it, could have done with it being 10-15 hours less. Sure I'll still get the tee-uped DLC though.

I've hit 76-ish hours and just tried capturing HEPHAESTUS before losing that and GAIA to Far Zenith before the bastards killed Varl  Roughly how much have I got left of the story?

Not a slight amount, but you're closing on the last stretch.
There's 2 main quests left - getting to the key locations might take a lot of traveling depending on how much of map you've explored.
There's a fair few "talk to people" possible sections which will extend playtime

Been spending some hours on this going from lengthy to short sessions. Im always amazed by some of the scenery but I feel like this game is somehow limited, there seem to be a lot of invisible walls in this game. Yesterday I was doing a puzzle and tought I needed to move a block outside of a location to complete it (which wasnt the case) so I tried pushing the block out, and the game just blocked it inside, there was nothing holding it back.

Now granted that it can be a way the game is letting you know that you are off track with your intuition and maybe my expectations with a next gen game are too high, but I feel it is a bit lazy to limit you like that. It happens also when you want to access a platform that is fairly reachable in some areas, but the game is nto designed to let you get there so once again you are blocked by an invisible force.

After the open world experience of elden ring, where I literally felt that there was no spot that I could not reach through exploration, this feels a bit underwhelming.

Will still push on with the main story, although Im not really getting into the sense of urgency and imminent danger that the game tries to deliver.

I've returned to this to do more poat game hunting. I'm trying to fully upgrade my legendary weapons and armour. So far it's taking ages with very low loot drop rates on enemy parts.

Not really bothering with side quests as I don't need the skill points as the remaining skills are all very boring.

If the game had less weapons and less stuff it would be a much more enjoyable experience. Also the random animal bones needed to upgrade things is frustrating. Just link it all to money and give people options of how to get it.

Wish my image sig would work
