I think it looks stunning. Character models and aloy’s hair in particular.

Story looks like it might be more of the same, maybe with more factions.

I won’t be getting a PS5 for it. Hope to see a PC port quicker than they did the original. So maybe 2 years till I play this…

I'm fully invested in the story from the first one so really hoping for some answers around who sent the signal that corrupted Hades and the other subordinate functions to make then into independent AI.

My theory is that Ted Faro has survived through either cryogenics in his private bunker, or he essentially uploaded his mind into a computer to become an AI himself and that he's behind it.

Am I right that the map is twice as big as the first game? I do like big maps so long as its not Assassin’s Creed Valhalla levels of big! I want this game but again like other previous Sony Exclusives, I’ll wait for an offer, I don’t want to pay £70 for a game.

PLAY | Persona 3 Reloaded [3h]
WATCH | Ted Lasso S3, HiJack S1, Red Dwarf S4, Dexter S2
RACE | Chew Valley 10k (June), GNR (Sept), Cardiff Half (Oct)

My Mrs rates the first game as her favourite game ever, so really have to get this day one for her don't I.

To the game collection!

I'm really confused about the upgrade option for this.

The Playstation Blog seems to contradict itself.

It says Players who purchase Horizon Forbidden West on PlayStation 4 will be able to upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version for free.

But further down says Please note: For players looking to have access to both the PS4 & PS5 versions of Horizon Forbidden West, please purchase the Digital Deluxe, Collector’s, or Regalla Editions. Dual entitlement does not apply to the standard and Special Editions.

There seems to be lots of news stories with contradicting conclusions too.

I guess you missed the whole furore when that blog post went up.

They originally said it would be a £10 upgrade (to the deluxe version) to get both versions, but they updated the post with the bit in the box on that page because Horizon was said to be a free upgrade from PS4 to PS5 in an interview back before the console launched. The conflicting news stories are simply the coverage from when the story and subsequent U-Turn were happening.

Now, they are still selling the standalone PS4 version for £60 and the standalone PS5 version for £70 (and a deluxe version that includes both and some other tat for £80). But they are also saying if you buy the standalone version on PS4 you can upgrade to PS5 for free. So why would the PS5 version even *be* £70 when you can just buy the PS4 version for £10 cheaper and get both? I figure they’re not going to offer the upgrade right away at launch and the internet is going to be a total mess the day it comes out.

I was late to the PS4 and Horizon was the first game I picked up, almost by chance really. Just liked the box art and knew nothing about it. It was an absolute gem, one of my favourite gaming experiences. I'm really liking the look of the trailers but this will probably have to be another game to try in a few years when PS5 prices have dropped a touch.

Elden Ring is out a week later, so I'm unlikely to play much Horizon, so I think I'll just wait on it coming down in price.

They released Horizon Zero Dawn at the same time as Breath of the Wild. You'd think they would learn.

I’ve got over 100 foils of Game credit burning a hole in my pocket. Gonna try and get some backlog cleared for this coming out.

So who does everyone think that glowing woman is at the end? I’m thinking there’s going to be a new faction of advanced humans who survived the plague by living off world for thousands of years. Could be interesting.

That would be the most logical thing, given that there's a few unexplained 'glitches'

Ok the first part of this video basically removes any doubts I had about this characters origin. I’d completely forgotten about this odyssey stuff from the first game.

Going to have to watch a recap video for the first game as I barely remember any of the story. I remember the main beats but I couldn't tell you who any of the side characters were.

If you want to go the digital route check the bargain thread. Using credit from ShopTo you can nab the PS4 version for £51.70 which while not stating it on the games page on the store, will get the free PS5 upgrade.

Likely kept at that price for people who own a PS5 and don't follow updates about the game as you can only see the PS5 version when browsing the store on a PS5 can't you? I went the ShopTo credit route, pre ordered the PS4 standard edition so when I view it in my library and visit the product info for the game it takes me to the PS5 version on the store.

Cheers, but I always buy physical so I can sell it on.

You sell PS5 games? First I've heard of it!
