I keep a wormery for food waste inside the kitchen and some fruit flies decided to set up camp inside it a few months ago. They then migrated around the house as flies tend to do!

I made little traps by putting a bit of white wine vinegar and a few drops of washing up liquid in a ramekin and microwaving for ten seconds to boost the aroma. Within half an hour I had thirty dead flies and a load more circling - it was like Ted Bundy had put on some Lynx Africa.

I wonder if that works for very tiny things like gnats but I'm pretty sure are some kind of plant-bound very tiny larvae/fly that just will not strawberry float off from one plant I have.

They're not as annoying as gnats which have gone away, more placid but still persistent as strawberry float.
