The truth is, the American pronunciation - sked-yul - is more in line with how the word would have been spoken by the Greeks, through whom it originated in the form of skhizein, and later skhida. Actually, as a general rule, Greek loan words that begin with sch are almost always pronounced with a hard K, with the word school being a prime example. Meanwhile, it is typically German loan words - such as schmalz or schnapps - that provide the English language with what is a relatively small collection of sh-words.

Some moron convinced me "lefttenant" was correct somewhere along the time so now I randomly use both.

Today’s one:

When it comes to what people throw in the bin, or are dismissive of – 86% refer to it as ‘rubbish’ rather than opting for the American terms trash (2%) or garbage (3%)

Those aged 18-24 (74%) are slightly less likely to opt for ‘rubbish’ than those over-25 (85-88%), and slightly more likely to opt for ‘trash’ or ‘garbage’ (4%) than those over-65 (1%), but for now, rubbish is holding firm in the UK.

Never used the term trash, garbage only very occasionally.

I use "gooseberry fool" to refer to "stuff" quite a lot which is probably poor form.

It's probably part of me trying to worry less.
