[DOUBLY SORTED] How does GAME's delivery of consoles work?

Standard console delivery is £9.95 (or whatever) and insured is £19.95. So does that mean I only get my money back if a console goes missing with the 2nd option? I've asked them on Twitter but they're taking their time in replying. I also checked their website for more info but I came away confused af.

its such a scam that some companies get away with that - i dont even think its true anyway? i had a dispute with a company a while ago with a mis-delivered parcel and they tried to palm me off with "its the delivery company's fault take it up with them" and i basically threatened them with legal action and they replaced the item. scum.

I cant see how that insurance option is anything other than a scam because legally the retailer is wholly responsible for getting the goods to you under the Consumer Rights Act. If it goes missing or gets damaged, GAME are responsible for rectifying it for you.

Under UK law if you paid by a credit card you’d be covered by Section 75 and would be refunded by your card provider (as long as you paid more than £100 for the item). On Debit Card you could ask for a chargeback from the bank, and with PayPal a Dispute. If you purchase a product from a business to be delivered, it’s their responsibility to make sure the item is delivered, and it’s up to them to contact the delivery provider. Under the Consumer Rights Act, you can either ask the seller to (re)deliver the item again within ‘a reasonable time’ or a refund. If they still refuse, you can report the seller to trading standards. In the most extreme of cases, you could also go to a small claims court.

In other words GAME haven’t got a leg to stand on, but could be a pain in the arse if they wanted. If they went bust however you’d be screwed unless you paid by a credit card.

I ordered my PS5 from GAME and had these same options, from what I found, the £19.99 one is their 'Insured Delivery'. Basically I think you get an extra £50 if it did go missing.

* Insured Delivery

Subject to customer submitting a DPD Lost in Transit claim via GAME customer services and DPD validating such claim, Insured Delivery entitles customer to either;

a) a free of charge replacement console, and a partial refund of £50 to the original method of payment; or

b) a full refund of the price paid for the console ordered and the £19.99 delivery charge (payable to original method of payment), together with £50 compensation (payable at customer’s choice, either by BACS, Cheque or onto a GAME Gift card).

Please note that DPD's Lost in Transit claim procedure can take up to 21 days to complete

You’re betting a tenner at 4/1 odds that it’s going to go missing, basically.

Was talking to the friend for whom I got the OLED Switch. They were still so utterly chuffed, that, once I told them how hype I was for the new Halo, instead of paying me, we agreed on a swap; the Switch for their mostly unplayed Series X :msgreen:

Think you got the better side of that deal by quite a margin to be honest. :lol:

I know it. But I'll be evening it out a bit when Christmas rolls around.

(They know it as well. But they were desperate to get the new Switch for Christmas for their kid.)

"Uh. Are you sure you wanna do this? No. Seriously. ARE YOU SURE?!!"

"Really sure, though?"

I'm still freaking out they'll call up and want it back :cry: :lol:
