Me? strawberry floating awful. Probably one of the worst year I have lived and were only half way through.....

It started on day one, I found out a mate of mine found his mum dead at the bottom of the stairs when he returned home from a New Years Eve party. Things started looking up when I met a nice woman, through the same mutual friend, and soon after we started dating. Not so long after that I lost my job. Two weeks ago today I was unceramonially(sp?) dumped by the girlfriend, for reasons she gave, never made sense and I have since found out there was/is possibly a third party on the scene. And now I've been informed my dad has ostio para- something or the other, which is an aggressive form of atheritis(sp? again. I'm getting worse!) in his hands and will get worse. Which is a blow for him as he's like a maintenance fella in his place of work so he needs full use of his hands, so his job is now at risk. Oh yeah and to top it all off my football team got relegated last season. So that's love life, job, family health issues/ job worries and even my favorite past time has all but gone down the shitter......

So yeah, to say 2011 so far is complete bollocks is an understatement! :cry:

Hows yours going?

I'm not really going to say if it's been good or bad because I don't want to tempt fate, but I've got closer to my dad and his new family and I'm sorting out financial support OU degree which I should be starting in October! My Japanese is still slowly improving and I've kept up with writing my blog which I'm happy about. My Mum's rhumatoid artheritus is getting worse and it's not going to get any better, she's quite down all the time and it's hard to try and keep her spirits up, she's been down for a long time, but she's slowly getting more and more bad days. I guess that's the worst thing about this year.

Ive had to move back home, and Ive taken voluntary demotion at work, so yeah mines been awesome

Can't let it get me down though, this time next year I'll be rich

Worst year of my life since I was 18.

- Mothers illness
- Lost my job
- Broke up with long time GF
- Found it hard to find a good job

Things are picking up now though, still half a year left

Sorry to hear about your issues. My year has been brilliant however. I've got a great group of friends. I decided to start losing weight again in mid April, hopped on the scales today and have hit the 2 stone loss mark. Work is managing to strike the fine balance between challenging without being too stressful - plus hopefully in the coming months I should be being taken on as a proper worker with the relevant pay and benefits rather than through the shitty agency. Lots of trips coming up soon too - paintball stag do in August, Orkney piss up in September, should be visiting Europe soon too.

So yeah, can't complain.

It's true Gandalf really has had the worst year I can remember.

Mine's been so so.

Same start as Gandalf as he was a mutual friend. Still don't think my job's safe, still single with no money to go out.

That's pretty much the jist!

Absolutely incredible apart from the uni work and still being plagued by what happened with a girl I was seeing last year.

Great, really.

Met a great guy, been together 4 or so months.
Promotion at work to something considerably less boring than editorial.
My house situation has worked out, living with a great bloke who's a good friend and the flat is swanky, with a garden onto the canal.
Family and friends are all ok and the group I have in Manchester are the best.

Things that could improve are getting a job in the sector I want to be in, in the same place I live to cut out the commute, and a higher wage, but I'm getting by in this pharma analysis position. Can't complain too much. It's the next thing that needs fixing.

The year started so well, I have no idea how its ended up bloody here again. :fp:

The struggle continues I guess.

If It's been gooseberry fool so far for people, then it'll only get better! Think positive everyone

I'm not really sure how mine has been tbh.

Gf broke up with me at the end of february and at the time it was really gooseberry fool bit now I don't give a strawberry float. Felt bad when I found out she had a new bf 4 weeks later although she broke up with him yesterday so was blatantly a rebound after me.

Worst part of the year, well I think I'd say my life, was 2 weeks after the break-up we had to have the dog put down. We'd had her since I was 11 and now I'm 20, she was one of the most important things in the world to me. With that and the gf I truly felt alone. As I'm sure is obvious, I stopped giving a strawberry float about the ex at that point.

On the part of good points, I'm earning decent money for my job and my friends are strawberry floating amazing. They've helped me get over her and been there for me.

Also got my motorbike a few weeks ago which I've been working towards getting for most of the year.

I'd still trade it all to have my dog back though.

Bit of a holding pattern really. Started my pen ultimate year with the OU fingers crossed still with my GF, same job etc.

My job is getting worse just because now I have to login every morning so they can track my hours and I've been moved into a large call centre type room instead of my own office. Those two things have made we very tempted to quite my job. Although I know I would have a nightmare if I didn't have a job. Have started looking for another one although I applied for some stuff I couldn't really except due to my GF, although if they start making me take an hour lunch break and staying to five thirty I will take anything.

Got to get better marks in one module if I want to try and get a 2:1 for my degree.

It feels like Jan was only a couple of weeks ago which is crazy.

My brother is getting married in a couple months and my 9 month old nephew is really cool so it's not all gloom for me.

It all started off gooseberry fool like normal. Had a tough couple of months recovering from my operation and my head was all over the place at times. Finally feeling more normal but I've had a number of episodes where I just can't face leaving the house or even getting up in the morning lately.

Still, looking forward to the future.

Pretty bollocks, really, due to illness in the family. Day job remains gooseberry fool, but other stuff's looking up at least.

It's been the best year of my life.....

But looking at the current mood, I'll leave it at that.

gooseberry fool. Only because of my Gran being diagnosed with cancer and passing away. Admitted nothing else has gone wrong, but it has been enough to make the year feel terrible, because she raised me and I thought the world of her. It's been about 6 weeks now, but I don't feel any better. :cry:
