After a recent round of redundancies at work, we have all been talking about how much we would get as a payoff if the company continues to lay people off. Statutory redundancy pay is not all that great, but it got us all talking about how long we have been employed in this hell hole.

I won as I joined in 2002 and despite resigning a few times, have never actually left. Almost 17 years! My length of service in this company will be doing its driving lessons soon.

How long have you been employed for with your current employer?

7 years last month.

Just over 5 years, feels like twice that.

21 years.

Just over 9 years now.

It feels like it should be should be much longer than that, whilst at the same time being hard to believe that it has been that long!

Just gone past the two year mark. Need to have moved on in a year or so, really. Don't want the CV to go stale.

Almost 15 years!

Will be 16 years in March for me. Had 4 jobs in the same company in that time, but still never thought I'd be here for half this time.

It'll be 10 years in June.

Got a nice little framed certificate for 15 years service just the other day, I knocked it over and smashed it inside a week

3.5 year's - My longest job is 5 year's I think so I think I will beat it here

I have only been in my current job for just over 3 years. I was in a previous job about 9 years which would be my longest employment.

2 years. I generally move on every 3-5 years to keep from getting bored and keep the salary rising at a decent rate.

I haven’t done it for several years now, but I used to get offered a job elsewhere and resign. My employer would then offer to match the salary I had been offered and I’d end up staying. When asked how much I had been offered, I’d always add on £1000 to whatever I had been offered to ensure my company gave me more than I would get from the other company

With the way things are at the moment though I can no longer do that as they’d happily wave me out of the door.

I've been working as a graduate assistant for 4 years, 3 of which have been with my supervisor. It's a pretty good job although considering I only work 1 day a week if that,I don't know how much it counts.
