PostHow often do you replace your pads?

I ask following what some people were saying in the 360 pad redesign thread, they said that a new d-pad wasn't worth an upgrade, but for me I replace my pads all the time so this seemed a little odd.

For example I have 8 360 pads, the moment I notice any lack in responsiveness, the little dimples start to rub off the pad or even if it's just looking dirty I'll go and get a new one.

Does everyone else do this?

No, they're too expensive for me to be buying new ones all the time. Rather buy games with that money.

I still have only one controller, and that's the one i got with my 360. If someone wants to come round to play co-op or whatever, they can bring their own. Or borrow one off of someone.

Have never replaced a pad. Although I'm now noticing my Wavebird isn't as good as it used to be.

No. There's some little pleasure to be gained by giving guests the pad with the wonky A button.

Do you not find that after extended use your analogue stick isn't as tight, and might not sit right in the middle when it's idle? I can't put up with that I'm afraid.

Yeah...on a N64! I tend not to notice on pads now-adays.

I only replace them if they actually break.

Having said that, I did go through about three N64 pads because the analogue gave out all the time.

Sounds a little obsessive, if you ask me :P

I'm not about to spend £200 on pads, so no. I keep my pads until the end. They're always good enough for the whole gen, for me at least.

This.

Doesn't seem worthwhile to splash out on a new pad just for a few minor improvements.

I've never needed to replace a pad.

I only replace my pads if they break. So far, I've only had to replace a PS2 pad where the bottom half started to come off, and a Gamecube pad where the R button stopped clicking.

Wow, looks like I'm a freak then.

The quality of a pad is vitally important to me, it's my tool for connecting with the game, if I can't trust it, it's got to go.

I find pads get better with time, it feels as though you and the pad are connected.

It's a spiritual bond, man.

hah i didnt even replace the N64 pads. There was always some poor fool in deathmatch who got stuck using the pad with the impotent stick.
