Hi

I have a new HP CHROMEBOOK 14 that keeps dropping WiFi connection every few minutes and I can't seem to find a solution.

All my other devices connect to my router no problem.

Any ideas?

If I can't fix this will look to take it back to the shop.

Don’t know if you can but try turning of 5ghz WiFi either on the laptop or router see if it settles it could that it is swapping between the two. Had that on chromecasts a while back on an old bt homehub

I don't think my router is utilising the 5ghz as when I log in to my router settings all my devices are all listed against 2.4 GHz only or would you still think it's a shot?

Naa if they are all on 2.4 it probably isn’t using it.

As an aside it might be time to upgrade, 5 has been about for yonks it’s way faster.

How do I switch it over, can't see the option on my router settings?

If there isn’t an option it only has 2.4ghz rather than both so that’s not the issue.

Googling it and looking up forums shows a whole heap of people had this issue but there didn’t seem to be a fix.

An interim fix is to connect to your router via an ethernet cable, it's not ideal, but at least you can get stuff done.
