Renewed for Season 3 which starts 17th May 2018 on Ch4.

The eight-part drama, which is based on Swedish series Real Humans, will be produced by the team behind Broadchurch, The Hour and The Tunnel.

A co-production between Channel 4 and AMC, the drama is set in a world where the new must-have gadget is a 'Synth' - an eerily lifelike robotic servant.

It stars Katherine Parkinson and Tom Goodman-Hill as a couple who purchase a Synth (played by Gemma Chan) but quickly come to regret their decision.

Merlin star Morgan will play Leo - a young man on the run, while Utopia's Neil Maskell is Pete Drummond - member of the Special Technologies Task Force,.

William Hurt, Will Tudor (Game Of Thrones), Emily Berrington (24: Live Another Day) and Rebecca Front (The Thick of It) will also star in Humans.

Meh. Got that anodyne vanilla look. And a cast of plonkers. One for the blade runner geeks.

Starts in 5 mins.

It’s an opener which will stir the juices of devoted sci-fi fans without alienating the casual viewer. No matter its point of origin, that’s the kind of sci-fi we need right now in the UK.

We certainly need it more than the next glowing thingumajig.

4/5

I'm not usually one for watching stuff on TV but this was on while visiting family and I rather enjoyed it. I'll probably watch the rest of this.

Very good start in the ratings -

Channel 4’s Humans electrifies 4 million viewers

Robot drama is broadcaster’s biggest original drama for more than a decade

Channel 4’s robot drama Humans began with 4 million viewers, the broadcaster’s biggest original drama for more than a decade and more than twice the number who watched BBC1’s Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell.

Humans, adapted by a pair of Spooks writers from a Swedish TV drama, started with just over 4 million viewers, an 18% share of the audience from 9pm on Sunday, with a five-minute peak of 4.3 million.

It was up more than 200% on Channel 4’s slot average and its biggest original UK drama launch since a new TV ratings methodology was introduced in 2002.

Didn't guess that about the cops partner. Uncomfortable robot sex scene as well.

Quite like this, very cleverly done for a TV show in my opinion. The hacker daughter is bloody annoying though, TV, games, films etc are just bloody useless every time they try and do a hacker character.

Noice 8-)

I've caught up with six episodes in the past week or so. Surprised there's not more chatter here about it.

captain red dog wrote:The hacker daughter is bloody annoying though.

She's not that bad, but the hacker stuff in the first couple of episodes was pretty dreadful. The most annoying thing is everyone calling her "Mats" :dread:

Their hella generic online handles were a bit unrealistic, too. "Are you HuBot87?". Should've gone with something like this:

I've found this to be really quite dull for the past couple of episodes. I'll finish this series but I don't think I'll bother with the next.
