Hyperoptic broadband costs and retention deals

I'm finally properly considering changing from sky broadband to hyperoptic (the xbox and ps4 have been downloading games at a pitiful 1.5mb/s :fp:).

With all the offers that have been around I wondered if anyone might share how much they pay to inform a benchmark for negotiations? Probably looking at the 150mb package, but may consider 1gb if the price is right.

I called them earlier and they offered £25 for 150mb - about a quid cheaper than advertised.

Also, for long term users, have you had to pay the somewhat eye-watering full price after the first year or are they good at maintaining/offering retention discounts beyond the initial contract? If the latter, what are your negotiation tips in this relatively uncompetitive part of the field?

A neighbour of mine claims to have been on £30 per month for 1gb since 2016! But I am yet to learn his ways.

What say you, hyperoptees?

Thanks, been through there earlier and they offer the same as on the hyperoptic website as the 'discount' is already applied for new sign ups. The guy on the phone said he could beat it by a quid.

I had Hyperoptic for a glorious year... might have been 18 months... then the deal ended and I had to skedaddle. It was incredible while it lasted.

Were they not open to negotiation post contract?

Can't remember if I tried... don't think I did actually.

Did you sign up wth them in the end? I really can't remember what it was when I had it as it was probably around 4 years ago now.

Turns out they offer 3 months as a free trial on the 1gb speed, so I've been doing that. Been really happy with it, but none of my devices make the most of the speed so when I fully sign up I'll drop to the 150mb package. They currently offer this for £26pm on a rolling 30 day contract. Risk is that the price could go up at any time so will need to balance that risk against a 12 month contract, that might be a pound or two cheaper per month.

You could probably just sign up again as a new user if enough time has passed. If they're fussy about you being with them before, using a different email address might get around it.

If you do, let me refer you and we'll both get a free month or something :datass:

Was that an advertised deal or an additional discount on top of a normal offer? Did you go for contract or rolling monthly?
