I liked Hyrule Warriors. I might get this if it adds to that formula.

Very hype for this, Hyrule Warriors was one of my favourite games on the Wii U. I'd been thinking about using up the last of my student loan on a switch recently and this has pretty much cemented the decision for me, only thing I'm sad about is that it probably won't have the original HW's brilliant version of Ganondorf in it :(

I don't think it'll be open world, I don't see how they'd be able to run a Warriors game like that.

Dynasty Warriors 9 was open world

It was, by all accounts, awful

We should really hope this isn't open world

Wasn't Dragon Quest Warriors 2 open world/semi-open world as well? Seem to remember it getting good reviews so it's something that can maybe work, even if it's just some limited exploration in between proper battle maps. Given the link to BOTW I expect there'll be some sort of gathering/cooking/crafting going on somewhere so exploration of some sort might be in there.

I hope it's like BotW in that you can use the japanese voices!

But I think a more pick-up-and-play action fest with the stylings of BotW seems great!

A couple of screens showing the UI:

Map looks pretty big on the first area.

Second suggests character swapping 8-)

Going to get this and save for Christmas day. Has split screen been mentioned at all?

I don't think so, but Hyrule Warriors 1 had it, albeit implemented very awkwardly from what I remember.

I think Koei Temco's TGS stream on 26th will delve into a lot more detail on the game so we might find out then.

If there’s split screen or indeed general local co-op this could be a day one for me (elevated from a ‘probably not at all’).

I wonder how it will work when you kind of need to lose every battle.

Split screen would be amazing, which means that this won't have it. I've got the Wii U original, and I remember multiplayer being one on tv, one on Fisher price controller.

I can't imagine how it will look in split screen, performance doesn't tend to be great for these games.

Local co-op would be a great option if they can add that too.

There can be objectives like cover an escape or whatever.

Also possibly (probably) playing as the other side and maybe non-canon alternate routes where Link et al. do win?

I wonder if the work to rebuild hyrule for this is going to be used in BOTW2 at all. Imagine time travel and moving between both time periods!

Well the good team only have to lose the final battle, there can be lots of victories along the way - successfully holding off the bad guys, driving them back and reclaiming territory etc. It just needs to end up going south at some point!

i imagine we're going to see some events from before ganon awakens, if you look at the artwork of link his has neither the master sword nor the champions tunic which he has in the earliest of flashbacks in botw, so i imagine itll be set across a long period of time rather than just the struggle where they all fall
