So I am not sure if this has been done before but it crossed my mind, how cool would a mini Saturn be, if there was one would you buy it and if so what games would you put on one

So here is my games list .... I deliberately stayed away from light-gun games and tried to keep a mix of styles

SEGA Rally Championship
Daytona USA Championship
Burning Rangers
Panzer Dragoon Saga
Radiant Silvergun
Dynamite Deka (Die Hard Arcade)
Shining the Holy Ark
Shining Force III
Athlete Kings
Street Fighter Alpha 3
X-Men Vs Street Fighter
Guardian Heroes
Baku Baku Animal
Vandel Hearts
Saturn Bomberman
Manx TT Superbikes
Last Bronx
Fighters Megamix
Galactic Attack
ClockWork Knight

On the one hand I never had a Saturn so would be interested in picking something like this up to catch some games I missed, but then on the other hand I never had a Saturn so have no nostalgia for its games and therefore I'm not sure I could be suckered in to buying another mini console with them on.

Over the years I think I've played most of the things I was really interested in via other means so I don't know that there's enough reason to buy into one now

Only if they charge £400 for it. I don’t see why everybody should be able to get one cheap if they didn’t fork out for the original.

I would buy one so hard Sega wouldn't walk straight for a week.

Needs a few more 2-D shooters on there, though - I read something interesting about how the hardware couldn't handle 3-D stuff very well, but was made obsolete so fast because it concentrated on perfecting 2-D stuff and completely missed the idea that 3-D was the next big thing.

Or else it was all something to do with microchips or computers or something. You're welcome.

A mate of mine had a Saturn, didn't play too much on it though. Downloaded and played NiGHTS on PS3, which was good.

Burning Rangers, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Radiant Silvergun... all games I've heard of, due to having gone down as cult classics. I don't have the foggiest idea about how any of them look or play, however. So yeah, I'd consider buying a Mini Saturn.

I can't see a Saturn mini ever happening because of all the lost source codes and the difficulty of Saturn emulation but something like this would be a realistic 20 for a western version if they could do it. Sega would liklely source 3rd party games from the likes of Compile and Treasure. Could probably swap some of these games around.

Racing:
Sega Rally
Sonic R
Puzzle:
Puyo Puyo Sun
Baku baku Animal
Fighting / beat'em Up:
Virtua Fighter 2
Dynamite Dekka
Virtua On
Fighting Vipers
Platformer / Side-scroller:
Clockwork Knight
Burning Rangers
Nights into Dreams
Sonic 3D
Shooter:
Panzer Dragoon
Panzer Dragoon II
Radiant Silvergun
Virtua Cop 2
Thunder Force V
RPG:
Panzer Dragoon Saga
Shining Force III
Shining the Holy Ark

Honorable Mentions:
Manx TT Superbike
Athlete Kings
Saturn Bomberman
Silhouette Mirage
House of the Dead
Virtua Cop
Hyper Duel
Exhumed
Shining Wisdom
Daytona USA CE
Last Bronx
Guardian Heroes
Fighters Megamix

I'd consider it but only if they called it the Neptune

If they do this, it has to be immediately available when they announce it.

I've never been lucky enough to play a Saturn (had a couple on my ebay watchlist a few years back when I was suddenly taken with buying retro consoles, but never pulled the trigger) so would love to sample some of the games in a Mini Classic format.

I never got a Saturn. I acknowledge it was a great console but I see it as dodging a bullet when my little brother got his way and we ended up with a PlayStation for christmas instead. In many ways I am glad the Saturn was a commercial failure. It meant Sega wasn't afraid to greenlight some of the crazier projects we got on the Dreamcast. If they brought out a mini version of the DC I would pay whatever they wanted for it.

I’d love such a system to come with Deep Fear. I’ve been wanting to play it for years and that would provide an easy means of doing so.

My mum threw my copy away whilst I was at UNI, along with all my gaming magazines and comic collection.

Wow!

When I first left home my Mother threw out 2 full bottles of Jäger, on I’d bought myself and one that was a present from some work colleagues, I’ve still not fully forgiven her but damn, comics and games? I’d have been furious.

They should put Sonic Jam on it. That way you get all the Mega Drive games plus the little 3D world with the bonus features like artwork and trailers.
