What would you do?

For me it's not even something I'd have to think about, I'd turn it in to the police. After asking my friend he said if there was cash in it he'd take that but try to return the wallet with anything else in it (ID, credit cards, etc.) personally that doesn't sound like it makes it any better, as the cash is the only thing you couldn't get caught using, therefore there is no real incentive to return it except that it's the right thing to do.

So if you found a wallet what would you do?

If I found a wallet I'd take it into the police/shop etc as I found it.

If I found money it'd go right into my pocket.

I dunno. I like to think I'd turn it all in, but if money was tight I might keep the money.

I'd take it to the police. Taking the money is basically stealing.

Return it without a doubt. I've been known to go back to shops when they've given me too muh change (£10's instead of £5's), so of course i'd return a wallet. Plus you may receive a reward.

I'd look through the wallet and maybe take half the money that was in there and then give it in to the police or try and find the owner.

I'd give it to the police. I don't have the guts to steal, even if there was no way to get caught.

Just like E-Man: Wallet = hand in. Random money = pocketed.

I'd keep the lot, if they're are stupid enough to lose it in the streets and im fortunate enough to find it, it's their loss. I wouldn't be arsed to go to the police to hand in just the wallet id rather just throw it away. Thats me.

What if you dropped your wallet, with all your hard earned money in, and someone just took your money and binned it? Wouldn't feel very nice would it?

It really depends on what is in it. If there is a fiver and one or two debit/credit cards, I'd keep the fiver and throw the rest away. The cards will be blocked the moment the owner knows they are missing, and why waste my time on a fiver? If there was something like £400 pound, drivers license, cards, photos etc, then I would find the person, and give it back (minus £20 for the trouble, natch).

Really depends on situation...

If I happen to find some money in it, sadly I would take some of it to keep for myself. That's only if I happen to have no money, that is. Yes it's stealing, I know.

I'll always try to return the wallet to owner, if I can't though I'll hand it in police or at places where it's lost at (since most people who lost their stuff in same place starts looking there at first thing anyway, but only indoors.)

I found a wallet once. Had £230 cash in it and loads of credit cards. Looked through and found that the guy lived just down the road. Returned it straight away.

The money in it is like a reward for handing in the credit cards.

No choice. Whenever I'm faced with one of those situations my concience just orders me to do the right thing regardless of what I want. I don't even get a choice to do it and feel guilty, I just can't phyiscally do it at all. It sort of annoys me since I feel I ought to have more free will than that. :(

It depends. If the wallet has a tenner in, pocket that and turn it in. If the wallet has hundreds of pounds in, return it all.

Basically I'd feel guilty stealing someone's entire weeks' wages or whatever, but if it was only a bit of cash then I'd consider that my reward for turning it in.

If you pocketed the cash and then turned it in, surely the police might ask you for your details, perhaps? Then the owner would know you took his money, and so the police would know.

Then you're in trouble.
