Not that I've ever played any of them...but they seem to have got 10 and 12 the wrong way round to me.

Personally, despite owning all the mainline entries excluding I, II and XI, I've only finished IV, V, VI and X so far, and I'd probably rank them:

1. VI - the complete package of battle system, story and music
2. V - probably my favourite gameplay in the series with the job system, although the story was pretty non-existent
3. X - just below V as my second most satisfying battle system in the series, and another amazing soundtrack (excluding the naff voice acting)
4. IV - I played the GBA version a couple of years back and while it still holds up ok, the later entries have improved on it significantly

I've only played VIII and X. I liked VIII quite a bit, though I understand of lot of big Final Fantasisers don't.
I liked X for a while too, but I got stuck and couldn't be arsed grinding to beat the dude. It was the main baddie I think, though I forget his name. I did quite like that weird sport that Tidus played though.

I keep meaning to get VII off PSN and pop it on my PSP, I'm always forgetting though.

For anyone that has a GBA, try and track down a copy of FFVI Advance

I would definitely put FF IX up there with VI and VII.
