I'm going to E3!

I'M GOING TO E3!

Like many of you I love computer and video games. Playing them, talking about them, coming to this forum to post about them. E3 is the mega event of the year when a non-stop barrage of gaming news explodes upon the world. I have been watching the press conferences since the 90s using a slow dial-up connection to view a stuttering window in one corner of my CRT monitor. The technology has since changed and I can now watch in high definition of my big screen TV whilst I sit comfortably up against my sofa with a beer and pack of Doritos (ahem) in hand.

Who here hasn't dreamed about sharing their passion by writing for a gaming magazine or website? I'm in my 30s so I'm a slightly older game then the GRcade average, who still hopes to be successful in my attempts via traditional avenues. A couple of years ago I started a small side business writing ebook tech manuals. This year I started a small enthusiast blog about gaming. Nothing too substantial as I've haven't had the time to write the industry changing articles I've wanted, so just some perfunctory stuff and a couple of reviews. But anyway, I decided I wanted to go to E3 this year because it's going to be such a big year. In February I took an expensive gamble and booked a holiday for my girlfriend and I to go to LA with the hope that if I apply I would be approved for the expo. Ever since I've had my fingers crossed and being muttering little prayers that I would be approved - and now I have!

My girlfriend is looking forward to seeing the boutiques on Rodeo Drive, the glamorous nightlife, and the posh hotel from Pretty Woman. I'm looking forward to sharing the (possibly sweaty) auditorium with thousands of fellow game geeks to learn more about the next Xbox and PlayStation 4! If there is only one year to go then I think I've picked a great one! I'm sorry I really don't want it to sound like a boast but for a longtime gamer E3 2013 is going to be so special. As a non veteran I will try hard to be professional and mature and control my excitement but I have a sneaky feeling that I will be the crazy loon cheering at every little announcement including the Kinect and Move casual games. If any past attendees has any show advice I'd love to hear it. Until then, roll on summer! :D

DAT HYPERBOLE :datass:

Only kidding. If you've always wanted to go, hope you enjoy it. We need/expect some overly-enthusiastic shouts and cheers during some of the conferences, preferably containing GRcade-related memes. Or if you can get interviewed by some kinda media outlet and spout some shite that contains some GRcade reference, that'll do.

You need to arm yourself with a camera, microphone and video editing software and a smartphone with twitter and dish out instant breaking news, under the copyright of GRcade and Mockmaster.

Then we shall worship you.

EDIT: And run on to the stage of PS4/NextBox and shat on the new machine in view of thousands while shouting "NINTENDO 4 EVER!"

For E3, Apple press conferences, etc, I'm firmly of the opinion that the best seat is at home, watching a stream.

Especially if you actually had to fork out to go to it. Still, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. If there was an E3 to go to, this would be it. Should be a great one.

Awesome! I've been a couple of times and it is absolutely incredible, you are in for a world of fun and excitement! Make sure your evenings are free each night after the show, if you can schmooze your way in to an aftershow party you're in for one of the nights of your life. :D

I assume he won't be invited to the conferences, so he can watch those in his hotel room while he wets himself with excitement at the games he'll be playing on the show floor over the coming days.

Hi. I have a question I hope you can help with. I have a media pass but I didn't realise that doesn't get you into the press conferences :fp: . Maybe it's a longshot but what can I do who can I contact to get into the Sony and Microsoft press conferences?
