It can be either. If something is already heading for something then you can say that it's headed for something. The action of heading to something is the past participle as it's already started, therefore it's headed. This is the same reason it can be 'heading' as the action may have already started but it's still ongoing.

Also, language is fluid and things change. Otherwise we'd all still be speaking Brittonic.

Not to sound all Ukip but I don't think it's so much the mighty morphin of language as the low amount of effort and high amount of efficiency that it takes to change it all as rapidly as it is - my heart sinks when UK people refer to the Mega Drive as the Genesis on youtube, not to mention that slang can go from one person to global almost overnight - "yeet" started from one lass chucking a can, did it not? It's not helped by UK companies going all 51st State by jumping onboard - "shop the sale". What? Yeah I'm just off to "shop KitKat". Corporate, soulless follow the leader stuff.

I use americanisms, sure, but when I have to stop myself from referring to crisps as chips I start to worry that I'm turning into a Civilization V leader moaning about losing to a culture victory.

Addicting.

I'm normally of the 'Oh you know what they mean don't be a dick about it' school but 'addicting' gets right under my skin.

The American pronunciation of Graham doesn't bother me, but the way they say Craig really does. He's a person not a strawberry floating cliff!

Yeah Craig -> Creg annoys me too.

I was fuming about it on the West Wing when everyone kept calling the one character C.J. Creg and I was like "learn to talk you American banana splits!" ... until I learned that her name actually was Cregg :slol:

Legos. Gets me utterly fuming. My wife finds it hilarious and every time I hear someone say it she'll just turn to see my expression.

The one that gets me, possibly because the host of a podcast I listen to has this name, is how they pronounce Aaron.

"Erin" it is not, you tards,

Being a huge fan of the Craig Ferguson Late Late Show (before the cretin James Corden took over), I lost count at how many times I would flinch at Americans blurting "Kreg" during interviews.

I think he referenced it a few times himself and saw the funny side, but god that would piss me right off if it was me.

But "is" is present tense and "headed" is past tense.

They're not interchangeable. You don't say "Dave is drived to the pub"

I know language changes, I'm not one of those weird purists, but this particular thing just doesn't make any sense to me.

If people just used it in casual conversation I wouldn't be too bothered, it's the fact it gets used in journalism all the time

Lego actually said on Twitter it should never be referred to as Legos, yet there were American's still trying to tell them they were wrong and that Legos is the correct term. :fp:
