Been off sick the last couple of days so have put some time into finishing this. What a game.

Well worth going back to the house when you finish - this triggers the definitive ending and a great tease for what might come next.

The only things I have left to do are the Queen Valkyrie and Niflheim. The former is just too difficult and that kind of challenge just doesn't float my boat at all. The latter is just a relentless grind, which also is not a part of gaming that I enjoy. I got the armours and all but one of the chests in my play through, but I don't see any value in grinding a few more hours just to close the realm tears and upgrade the armour that I have no further need for.

Bring on the sequel. Loved watching that director video posted above - it'd be great if more directors did this as it gives great insight into the dev process.

For the Queen Valkirye, I dropped down to the story difficulty.

She's still a challenge on that, but I managed to beat that. I salute those who managed to beat her on the hardest difficulty.

Raising Kratos documents the five-year, herculean effort to reinvent one of the greatest stories in gaming, God of War. Facing an unknown future, Santa Monica Studio took a massive risk, fundamentally changing their beloved franchise and re-establishing their rightful place in video game history. More than just a “making of,” this cinematic journey of second chances rooted in family, sacrifice, struggle and doubt follows game director Cory Barlog and those who chase perfection in art and storytelling. Witness the incredible defeats, the unpredictable outcomes and the down-to-the-wire tension on full display in this true-life redemption story.

Great documentary. It deals heavily with the emotional side rather than the functional side of building a game. I would have liked a bit more insight into how decisions came to made and why things were a certainty rather than the emotional journey the creator went on, but that seems to be the way of things these days.

Nevertheless it’s a great insight the process with great access and it does take you on a bit of a journey that lands nicely with the conclusion.

This is closer to what you want, but still probably light on details:

This one is probably too focused on Atreus as opposed to the game in general:

So far so good BUT the combat hasn't settled with me as yet. It feels a little clumsy.

It will, I'm sure. In my opinion, it's the best melee combat in any game, ever.

Played some more last night. I'm starting to get the hang of it, kind of.

When you open up certain move sets and you become more accustomed to it, it feels so fluid and satisfying.

I found it helpful to swap to the classic controls swapping r1 and r2 to square and triangle

The head has just warned me that we're entering the end game. Is there anything I should do or have before proceeding?

Up to you but you can go back to explore again once you’ve finished it.

Everywhere is still available after the story so you won't miss anything.

Just started. Put about 2.5 hours in and it is all very nice so far. Managing multiple enemies is a little annoying and the axe combat is very heavy handed, but people seem to be suggesting above that is becomes more fluid as I unlock more.

Is it better to prioritise upgrading my son or me first?

Going to start this tomorrow. Last game I played through was Uncharted 4 on release, so it has been a while.

Which did you prefer: GOW or Uncharted 4?
